Just sitting here contemplating whether to have the day in the shed, or clear out the loft, when a fly just flew past........

And that got me thinking.......

How long can a fly stay airborne before it drops with exhaustion?

Then i thought up a experiment where you put a fly in a perspex box, and have moving objects on the outside to deter it landing.
Drawbacks i can see are the variables that you dont know. How long has it been flying prior to the test, how old, give it a good nights rest etc etc

And NO i am not going to find out, but i bet someone, somewhere has!!!

When it stops flying does it become a Walk?

Being stuck in a box would make it a Crosswalk I expect.

If it stops from flying then surely it becomes a Sit.

Or a Lie? That is, if a fly can lie. And doesn't simply die. In which case we'd have to say Bye. And try not to Cry. Perhaps just Sigh. And ask ourselves Why. That Fly was quite a Guy, aye.

Get out more, you say? Hmmm, note to self....

weirdly , I was thinking exactly the same the other day! I'd guess it wouldn't be too long as they are using a lot of energy to fly constantly.
