While I'm not the sort of person who normally posts stuff like this can I ask that you consider and sign the petition below. It relates to what happens should a pet be injured on one of our roads. If the law was changed it could make a huge difference and would help avoid the horrible situation Harvey's owners found themselves in.

If you want to watch a video which shows just how important this change to the law is then click on the link below for more details of what happened to Harvey and another dog called Shiver (warning - even those who are powerfully built may shed a tear or two).

Thank you.

Despite being the owner of a much loved dog, I've chosen not to sign this.
I feel it is my responsibility to ensure my dog is not allowed to run free, and that it is chipped. I don't think its fair to add more red tape and work to government employees because of a failure of something that is my responsibility.

Neither of our dogs are allowed to run free, the oldest is 11.5 & has only once got loose & then didn't go far.I feel it is my responsibility to ensure my dog is not allowed to run free, and that it is chipped. They are both chipped, not much use if they are not scanned if the worst happens though is it?
Edited to add that I agree fully that our pets are our responsibility, be nice if we were informed should something happen though.
I'm not a dog owner as we both work full time, but do have indoor cats that never go out.
Cats are all Micro Chipped.
Fact is, pets escape all the time, no matter how careful owners can be, I've signed because if any thing did happen to any of ours, I'd much prefer to be told/find out, than never knowing !!

Your choice of course.I feel it is my responsibility to ensure my dog is not allowed to run free, and that it is chipped. I don't think its fair to add more red tape and work to government employees because of a failure of something that is my responsibility.
I also consider myself a responsible owner but I really don't understand your point. Do you think people choose for their dog to escape or that someone is always at fault when it does happen?
I honestly do hope you never find yourself in a situation where you're affected by this particular piece of legislation. If you do, I wonder if your opinion would be a little different.
