This is why I would love to cap government spending at a set, low proportion of GDP. I guess at about 10%. It would force them to focus on only those things that are important, and remove the option of continually increasing taxes or borrowing to pay for things we don't need.

I just don't understand train fares! I used to get the train from Ilkley to Leeds which is about 30mins or just under 20 miles for £3.10 which is a bargain.

To do a similar length journey at the same time with SouthWest Trains waterloo - kingston cost a whole load more..

This most likely has something to do with the operator I assume..

I was thinking mainly of men on benefits, but whatever turns you on.

How about just running steam trains on the roads? You could put proper wheels and tyres on them.


I love PH. I do a great long post about the benefits of trains versus other mehtods of transport and the only bit anyone picks up on is sex slaves.

Speaking as an ex resident for far too short a time of that place it's because people in Ilkley look at Leeds, shudder, and then carry on avoiding Beelzebub. Thus there is no demand. Ditto Bradford.
