We stayed above, and ate in, Restaurant Nebozizek - just across the river in the national park, halfway up the hillside so good views across the city.

This was several years ago, but it was properly good (if not excessively fancy - no Michelin Star) food. Google it, see if it's still got a good rep. Bookings were needed when we went.

The museum devoted to Alphonse Mucha is fabulous if you like art. Equally it is pssible to visit the church where the two Czech resistance members who assassinated Heydrich were finally trapped by the SS. I believe that the SS drowned them by flooding the crypt.

I like this place - a regular place for me when I'm in town. Good atmosphere, good food, good location...wonderful beer.

Roast pork dishes to die for, or a great place to drink beer accompanied by lots of little 'picky bits'.
+1 for Kolkovna and its beer! smile

http://restauracecantina.cz/ Is an awesome Mexican just around the corner from Kolkovna, usually need to book though.

I was shown round Prague by a Czech girl that I was madly in love with many years ago (painfully unrequited frown). Most of the stuff we saw has been mentioned above but there was also a park that led up to a tower that I think was the highest point in Prague and overlooked the city. Google tells me it's called Petrin Hill. Lovely views from up there.

She also told me the locals flock to the park in summer and make love amongst the trees, the saucy sods.

Awwww... It's amazing how much more romantic anything that happens 1000's of miles appears.

Similar is said to happen on the heath behind my flat - only they don't call it 'making love', and most of Middle England considers it rather disgraceful! laugh

Hi guys!
I am not from Prague, but my girlfriend is from Prague and I am czech man. My recommendation will be mainly for petrolheads. Unfortunately my favorite restaurant in Prague is closed. This restaurant was equipped like in Pulp Fiction from Tarantino movie. Food was delicious and there were also sweet girls as waiters with sexy clothes, but now… :-( Maybe in future…
Another in similar style is James Dean bar. Links are bellow.
And I really recommend Cars museum in Lany which is close from Prague. If you have any question you can ask me smile

Cars from this musseum are owned by Antonin Charouz. Do you remember Tomas Enge, three times F1 racer and Roman Kresta, WRC driver? He was their manager. By the way... He is not much honest men (ACH), but thats another story...

Good point, but it seemed lovely at the time. Then again, I was so crazy for this girl she may have said "eat fish and chips" and I just heard "make love". biggrin

I do know what you mean in truth - I've only ever visited with a group of ugly lads, and yet the parks (amongst other things) did stand out as being rather lovely... Not been for a good few years now, but definitely intend to return with a special lady sometime!

Almost forgot about this.

Had a wonderful time in Prague, Jet2 had extra leg room seats or something so the flight was surprisingly good. Hotel was fantastic (Hotel Central IIRC) and there was a bar down the road with good beer on tap and great food with excellent service too.

I was drinking Hoegaarden for the most part, love the stuff and it was only 55K in most places.

Went to the rooftop restaurant but it was busy and no decent seats around so we just had a look before popping off elsewhere.

Skoda are popular in their home country it has to be said hehe

Hated Prague, especially after we got pickpocketed an hour after arriving at the airport. Pickpockets are rife according to a local, who was pickpocketed 3 times in a week, so be careful.

Maybe just due to bad experience but dont think we will try Eastern Europe again.

Charles Bridge was nice and we found this surfer bar called Aloha I think it was called, near the river that served Italian food and make awesome cocktails, so thats worth a try :-).

Top Top Top place Prague

http://www.vagon.cz/indexV.html is a proper old basement bar, beer 85p a pint with crappy live tribute bands (queen, guns n roses etc) open till 4-5am

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%BDi%C5%BEkov_Tele... is well worth a trip up for panoramic views of the city.

Also the gardens of the parliament building are good for a wander.

My big tip tho, would be if you are eating/ drinking take a walk down one of the side streets, if you go 100m away from the main tourist streets the price is halved smile

I can understand why you might be pissed off about that but it seems a bit odd to blame the city. That sort of crime is prevalent in any big city.

That seems like a massive missed opportunity. Czech beer is consistently superb. I'm yet to find one I don't like. Any local tap beer would have been around 30Kc, if you were off the main tourist streets/squares.

Sorry for the bump but I've been invited to a small stag do in Prague later this year, having recently watched the Scam City episode on Prague I was a bit dubious but hopefully it will be OK - some useful recommendations here, thanks.

There is talk of going to some kind of shooting thing at http://www.topgunprague.com - I'm not convinced as I'd rather see the sights, have some good food and sample the alcohol but as a guest I'm not going to dictate these things. Have any of you been to this place?

Thought I would revisit this as off again this weekend, anyone been to hemmingways? Seems to have some great reviews and I like the exclusivity of it.

I haven't been to Hemmingways but just wanted to pop back in following the bump to say I had a great (if a little tame) time - what an awesome city.

I need to go back again, many more times.
