The Statue of Liberty is only 151ft tall - I remember being very disappointed when I saw it.

The Shard is 802ft, so £ per ft is better value.

But one is an icon all over the world, the other is a funny-shaped building.

Used to go up the GPO Tower as a kid. The lower two floors were open to the elements just with bars instead of windows. We used to lob snowballs off the top, I guess that's why they closed them to the public biglaugh

Well, I wasn't sure and now I'm very sure. I'll spend the money at the bar instead.

Thanks for the input.

It's not high enough and doesn't have outside space though!

Can you book a table yet or is it members only or whatever bks it looks like on their website?

Book online - 125Dh (Just under £25) rather than 400Dh if you just turn up.

Yeah I've been up a couple of times, once in the day and once at night. Both very impressive.

As said above it's about £20 if you book 24 hours in advance or about £80 if you just turn up. It can get booked up quite quickly though especially in the Winter so if you know what day you want to go then book it as early as you can. The fountain at the foot of the Burj is fantastic and the mall is huge. The fountain usually runs a couple of times around midday and then every half hour in the evenings. Most impressive after dark.

Oh, and on the ground floor of the mall the steak at the Texas Roadhouse is amazing!

I wasn't that impressed with the Burj up there even though I admired the building itself, and even less with the fountains and the (overpriced) aquarium as this is going off topic.

Thanks but it looks you suffered much more at the Shard than me at the Burj, as I still enjoyed it smile

went at the weekend and thankfully had a clear sunny day, it is abit steep but was bought as a Christmas present for me and my dad by my brother. the 3 of us lasted about 40 mins and it is by far the highest i have ever been in a building. the open air section made me feel abit funny though and for some reason does not feel quite as sturdy!

BIG MISTAKE!

If the weather is clear the view from the Shard is fantastic. DO IT.

Judging by the photos above, I might still do that despite my earlier post!

I'll see what the weather is like I think.

Thanks for pointers ref the Burj.

Seems you can only book 30 days in advance, so will make note to do so nearer the time.

We are only in Dubai for 3 days over new yr, stopping there on way home from Maldives.

I'm hoping they don't close the Burj to load it up with fireworks for new yrs eve, lol.
