I would rate Banus as being trashier than either of the places mentioned in your first sentence. The second line is truly horrific, and the front line is purely trash with more coin. Horrendous.
One half of the second line is 'trashy', from Lineker's back down towards the Pangea end of the port. The other half isn't bad at all, particularly Seven.

Suggesting that the front row is trashier than what you'd see in Ayia Napa is, frankly, completely beyond me. Banus as a resort does not equal two streets, anyway. La Sala / Aquamist, Sisu, Valero's, Funky Buddha, Tibu and countless others are all off the main street, and that's without considering San Pedro, which contains myriad wonderful bars and restaurants. Minutes away, and with the best, most friendly pub around, opening til 6am midweek.
We'll have to agree to disagree. One man's meat is another's poison and all. On the occasions I have been, which all involved socialising beyond the 1st and 2nd line (largely through desperation), I thought it was a hole. I'll stick to other parts of Spain ta. Mind you, a job opportunity was pulling me to Sotogrande to live about 18 months ago and that gave competition in the no-class stakes and TOWIE extras wandering around the place to match the frontage at PB.

That said, this is a lads trip and my last visit to PB was with in similar circumstances and we had a reasonable laugh. A mix of nouveau riche and 30 grand a year millionaires dictate the demographic of the scene but it's amusing enough.

I actually wouldn't consider Puerto Banus to be much good for a lads holiday, in all honesty, but good that you you had a sound enough time. Actually, I'd say they can be part of the problem you refer to, on second line. We go every year as a couple / two couples. The girlfriend has a place on the hills outside, so we're far removed from the noise and lights when we want to be, but can drive in / taxi in 10 minutes.

I also love Porta Pollensa, for what it's worth, which is pretty much the opposite demographic - well, there's money, but much older people and less showy! Ayia Napa was alright as we were off season, and Playa de las Americas? Well... no for me, but for a lads holiday - would fit the bill I reckon.

Uh oh, make sure you book a clap test when your back wink

In seriousness though its not as bad as some resorts and the majority of A level/GCSE kids go in June/July so there will be less 'meat' in the market...
