Neil,

Nonsuch Bay is an excellent resort and the accommodations there are very nice, the restaurant is good but it is a long way from everything. Carlisle Bay is mid way between Jolly Harbour and English Harbour, both will have things going on during Feb.

Nonsuch Bay rooms can have a full kitchen which may or may not be useful for your wife and little one as meal times and snacks/milk (kettle/microwave etc. are all here) can easily be prepared as well as full meals.

As to time of year, closing to January will have weather akin to a beautiful summers day in the UK. End of February and things can heat up a little.

Oh also, if your baby has certain foods / brands of things they like, I would recommend bringing them with you. Whilst ANU is much more developed than other surrounding islands, you cannot rely on the stores to have exactly what you want, so if it's critical then bring it with you.

I would echo the comments on Miami, we spend 2 days there in 2011 during a trip to Orlando and after dark we never felt save at all when out and about. We stayed a block back from the beach in a pretty good hotel but the type of people about at night always made us feel uneasy.

All really useful information, thanks Chris! Would it be feasible to stay in Nonsuch Bay for a week, then move to Carlisle Bay for a week? Also, am I missing any resorts here?

Thanks

Neil

Neil,

There are lots of resorts in Antigua, despite it being relatively small.

The resorts are all pretty similar and be warned, there is not a huge amount to do in the Caribbean, apart sit at the beach/pool. Nonsuch has an excellent sailing academy if that's of interest and Carlisle has excellent tennis facilities amongst other things.

It really depends on what you want from your holiday. A lot of the activities in Antigua are activity based, boats, beach, diving etc. so if you are looking for a place to just relax than either of these will be ok. Carlisle is an excellent resort as is Nonsuch. Nonsuch is probably a 4* whilst Carlisle is a 5* if that's important. You should be ok at either, Carlisle has a wider variety of dining options.

A week in both would be ok, at Nonsuch you are close to the famous Half Moon Bay beach which is wonderful.

Hope this helps.

I've stayed in the Essex and Park Central on South Beach and had a great time. Didn't think it was that rough, but then again I used to live in Croydon hehe This was pre kids though, not sure there was much for them in Miami.

We had lunch at the Carlisle a couple of years ago. It seemed a stunning property.

Useful info!

Hoping for a 'big' holiday next June (last chance for non-school holiday holiday before Boy starts at First School) . . . and Miami was on the list. Looks great in pictures, hoping (anorak alert) to visit 'Dexter' locations among general beachy, watery and foody stuff.

Read thread. Changed plan!
