Not read the whole thread, but if you want to fire guns go to Battlefield Vegas.
That is where I had lined up.I think $320 will see me happy enough
(not sure on the pistol, the others all seem like fun classics)

To be honest if you are firing the Dessert Eagle I probably wouldn't bother with the Baretta. I have been to Battlefield Vegas and Miami Lock and Load and if I ever go to a firing range again I wouldn't bother with the small calibre pistols again.I think $320 will see me happy enough

The list of guns I haven't fired but want to are
AK47
Desert Eagle .50
Barrett M82 50 Cal sniper rifle
MG42
MAC-10 (Don't have that at Battlefield Vegas)

We did ours at the Gun Store on Tropicana. Much smaller and not as many batst crazy weapons, but easy enough to walk in without booking and everyone has always been very friendly and helpful.
Watch the kick on the Desert Eagle... it's a beast!

Going to be a baseball stadium.
I had a look around the Tropicana hotel and casino when I was there, my wife has stayed there a couple of times and it was like going back in time to smaller hotels rather than the massive ones they have now.

I fancied the Desert Eagle because well .. Desert Eagle. But then thought I might as well see what a normal pistol feels like?
The M82 appealed too but I thought, if I'm already firing one .50 cal is it too much?
The desert eagle is a 12.7×33mm pistol round, the 50 BMG round is 12.7×99mm. The 50 BMG travels twice as fast and has nearly ten times the energy of the Desert Eagle round. The M82 appealed too but I thought, if I'm already firing one .50 cal is it too much?

Maverick are good, but not cheap (as noted) can do business tours too, but you want the south rim, not west. It's alooooong way by bus/coach.
There's a fun tour that takes about four hours that covers Counts Customs, Shelby Factory/museum and Pawn Stars that is well run, done by "Annie Bananie". If you're into that sort of thing. Didn't take forever, didn't cost a fortune.

Pretty spendy but we were very happy supping 'Maverick champagne' on the canyon floor
Utterly stunning and a life long memory
We did the afternoon trip which got back to the strip at dusk when the lights went on - strong recommendation
Other heli operators are available, Google suggests not all of their customers come back !!!!
Cheers, am risk averse but would defintely do again. Honestly an unforgettable trip
Who's rented a car in Vegas recently? I'm looking at something for my trip later in the year and I fancy a big SUV or even a truck.
Alamo seem to have a decent selection on paper to pickup from the airport, but I'm not sure what the fleet is like in real terms. Fancy a Denali/Suburban or even an F150.
Done the muscle car thing previously, now it's the bigger and stupider the better.

Just came back from my third trip, having not been in a decade. Was surprised how expensive everything was - sales tax at 8.375% didn't help, it's getting towards VAT levels.
Shot some guns at Battlefield Vegas, highly recommended.
There's $1 blackjack up in the old town next to the Mob museum if you fancy an afternoon playing cards. Everywhere else seems to be minimum $10 per hand, which can quickly get expensive.
A trip to the Speedway with Exotic Racing is highly recommended, if extremely expensive. I'd recommend taking out the cheapest car possible for the most amount of laps to learn the track, then take out what you actually want to drive. They have a lot of exotica there, including Ferrari and Lambourghini GT race cars and they won't just let you push them hard, but encourage you to.
Sphere is worth the entry price.

Just hired a Mustang in LA and dropped off in Vegas with Alamo. Previously hired a humongous Dodge Ram thing in Texas.Alamo seem to have a decent selection on paper to pickup from the airport, but I'm not sure what the fleet is like in real terms. Fancy a Denali/Suburban or even an F150.

Shouldn't be a problem, those pickups are very common over there, just like hiring any other car.

Would the heli tour be suitable for someone who suffers motion sickness? My daughter is not good on planes and roller coasters! Pretty spendy but we were very happy supping 'Maverick champagne' on the canyon floor

The problem you have in Vegas more than other places is that their demand fluctuates hugely depending on what events are taking place, so it is pot luck about what is in stock - if you are picking up mid-week you'll have more choice than a Saturday night for example.Rent from one of the household name multinational at the airport will give you the best choice.
Don't forget that pretty much everywhere charges for parking these days, so I've stopped renting for the whole trip and just have something for a couple of days and fit in all off-strip activities into those days.
