Is it a power station somewhere? the dome in the middle looks somewhat like Sizewell B, but I don't remember 2 round tanks (which I presume the near objects are) close enough to look like that!

Not Sizewell.

And while it's not a 'power station' in the conventional sense, it's definitely energy-related.

No. But it is 'green energy'.

Is it the backside of one of the orbs at Eden Project?

No to Eden project. It's much more directly "green energy related" than that, although it's also a tourist destination and well-known landmark.

a hydro station of some sort? maybe tidal fill and empty the tanks? if that is even vaguely close to the truth, I've no idea where it is!

Well, the tanks do contain water, and store energy. But the energy isn't kinetic...

Big solar array somewhere?

Hot water, but not solar. And the thermal energy is distributed/used in the form of hot water, too.

That's a big clue to the location. smile

Yup. If you've been there, you will almost certainly have seen this building.

I know not exactly where, so someone will have to narrow it down further - I do recall Rick Stein covered it on his recent Weekends programme, didn't he?

Having been 3 times, the only place I can think of due to the clues is the blue lagoon.

Do not recall the building though.

Not the Blue Lagoon. But it is a geothermal energy store - (and it has a rotating restaurant on top, under the dome!)

Well blow me never saw that before, but we have only stayed close to it for one night in 3 years of visiting.

I did not name the place as I googled it, so it is still open.

Probably "close enough", so over to you!

It's the "Pearl" (or Perlan) in Reykjavik.

The towers hold geothermally heated water which provides hot water and central heating for the city. Inside there's galleries, shops and a revolving restaurant under the central dome.
