So, has anyone had any issues hiring a car since June 8th?
Arrived in France on Monday lunchtime, walked up to the rental desk and just gave them the photocard part.

Wasn't asked for anything else.

I had a quick look at the website, I'm not sure why they need your NI number, and why you (or the rental car person) can't just type in the driving licence number and it pop-up with a Yes/No response as to whether it is valid without the need to re-lookup the self destructing secret code.

Apparently the code is now valid for three weeks.

All a bit pointless though.

It's all rather dispiriting when you see what an utter failure to think things through properly they make of something simple like this. These onanists are in charge of properly complicated stuff so no wonder we are in a mess.
