Just return from four days in the 3Vs. Stayed in La Tania which was great. Arrived on Sunday at around 1pm and it was sunny so we got our skis and hit the local slopes for a couple of hours. Monday was a whiteout so that wasn't ideal, Tuesday wasn't much better. Yesterday was fantastic though. Got the first lift up and we went as far as we could to be back in time for our 4.30 transfer. It's difficult to comprehend just how vast the area is. I'm looking at the stats now, mental.
Did you get all the way over to Pyramides? I love taking people on a tour of the 3V, it is vast ...krallicious said:

Looking warm in the Alps next week. Slush in the afternoon?
I am guessing so. Off to St Anton tomorrow without the prospect of snow for the coming week and with high temps. Disappointed doesn't start to cover how I feel. krallicious said:

I think there's enough existing snow that it won't be too much of an issue, stay high in the afternoon and all will be well.Well St Anton is very green but the snow is OK. I have been fortunate for the past couple of years. Huge dumps and then blue sky skiing.
Managed to find some untracked powder today and the pistes are in a good condition. Just very frustrating skiing past my favourite off piste areas and seeing rocks and trees that I never knew were there!
Thanks for the tips.

As others have mentioned ski tactically and you'll be fine. I'd stay away from the happy valley if it is slushy though as it will be carnage, unless you're pretty confident I'd recommend downloading in the gondola. I love spring skiing, skiing in the sun, in a t-shirt, and drinking a cold beer on a sunny terrace is one of lifes great pleasures.
For the first time in many years, it's the first season where I'm not going to end up skiing in Austria and St Anton at all. I don't think St Anton has had a stellar season from what I've hear. I'll be in Val Thorens in a coupe of weeks, I'd take sun over whiteout in a resort without anything that even closely resembles a tree!
Skiing one or two weeks a season you just have to take it as it comes and enjoy what you arrive to-not worth worrying about it.
Finally slush= poor mans powder

We drove to St Anton today for the first time, but I agree, a lot greener (browner) than I expected. I preferred the Rendl side in all honestly, a lot smoother even at 4pm it was well maintained.Managed to find some untracked powder today and the pistes are in a good condition. Somehow we found ourselves at a "ski route" area and the only option was to follow it down. The girls actually really enjoyed it considering my wife has only started this year and her sis last skied 8 years ago!
I have 2 more "free" days on my snow card there, so may go again in a few weeks. If the weather stays like this, or as predicted for the next couple of weeks, then I can't see us getting much more in. Off to stubai tomorrow.

Just back from SkiWelt/Soll region, snow on the slopes is still pretty good, tried to stay higher as the lower slopes were slushy. My dad really liked Sheffau, great area for blue runs for people lacking confidence for a more difficult red run.
Never got to Scheffau, always looked nice driving past.. I was thinking of doing a quick 4/5 day run out to St Johann in that area, week after next, so 16th onwards, bit worried it'll be a bit sparse... chevy-stu said:

We drove past St Johan, it certainly looked more sparse than the Ski Welt area.Sheffau is much better for someone who can only do the easier red runs. I never made it to Westendorf the reports from people coming back were that it wasn't worth it due to the snow.
Its almost 9am here in Innsbruck this morning and it is already 13c, looking at 19/20c for the rest of the week. It looks like the glacier is the only option until the end of the season.
Heading to Munich this weekend to take advantage of the warm weather...but rain is forecast so we may get a light sprinkle in Tirol overnight.

Very warm here in Chamonix too but a reasonable base and some good height is keeping the pistes in skiable condition. After this much time there aren't even many touring options that haven't been properly trashed in the hunt for fresh turns. The long range forecast shows temperatures plummeting next Wednesday, but that's too far off to be reliable at this stage.
Still, a sunny, slushy day on the slopes is much better than a day in the office.
