Awesome skier, takes skill and balls (and seemingly starting skiing at the age of 2 in his case) to be that good. Before I seen his name I thought due to the colour of his gear he worked for UPCA.
I started at two, not that good though! Need to live in/near the Alps and have a big dose of natural aptitude.
We've just booked with Crystal for a Chalet holiday in La Plagne, (Les Balcons in Belle Plagne), our first time there and we're going with another couple, travelling Gatwick - Chambery on the 14th March for a week.
We know that Crystal is probably not the very best company and Chambery is far from being the best airport but these were our friends choices and we're going with it as they are really good friends and it will be great fun to ski with them.
This will be our first skiing trip for three years and my 65th birthday is on the 19th, on that day I'm going to ride the Olympic Bobsleigh run which is something I've always wanted to do, I'm also considering trying a tandem paraglide as well, has anyone ever done that?

The new one is crazy, but a lot of it is set up and stuff has been added afterwards like the people sitting on the chairlift, watch the original... http://youtu.be/ygxufRprWpY

You should be fine with Crystal, they probably place more Brits in the Alps than any other UK travel firm. Sure, it's not boutique hotels and fine dining. But they seem to know what they're doing getting you to your ski destination. You should have a great time in La Plagne, its a great area liked up with Les Arcs.We know that Crystal is probably not the very best company and Chambery is far from being the best airport but these were our friends choices and we're going with it as they are really good friends and it will be great fun to ski with them.

I'm in Kitzbuhel right now. Stunning weather and fantastic snow conditions. Not many people about either.
My record for the Hahnenkamm is 9 mins, 34 seconds!! My sphincter was twitching like a rabbit's nose by the end. God knows how the racers go down it in under 2 minutes!!First day back at work (Boo!) after a week in La Plagne (Yay!)
First coupe of days were a bit scratchy but it was fine after we had snow overnight on Tuesday - had another dump on Friday night. Had a lesson with an Ex-Moguls champion who decided that it would be fun to jump into Couliors and do lots of daft stuff - all brilliant but was rather interesting as I was on a set of GS skis
A pic the wife took.

Much the same as last year, and the year before etc. Nothing like being predictable I did miss out on Whistler last year, but got Crystal Mountain, Morzine and Tahoe plus quite a few days in Scotland...and this year is shaping up to be the same. Not been out this year yet though - planned to pop up to Glenshee on Sunday but the road was closed Maybe next weekend, then the US the weekend after...and so it begins.

Mostly the same as last year...but with my daughter back in the UK there will be no Whistler trips, but hopefully some time at Crystal Mountain on the back of a Seattle trip, then Tahoe (got my season pass ) plus whatever Scotland can offer and maybe a weekend or two in Europe.

I'll have to buy tickets this year again at Tahoe though, and they've changed the dates for passes I think so I can't get a late season pass that covers 2 years now
except this year my daugher is off to Vancouver for a year, so I plan to go out to visit her (and spend some time at Whistler ) late January and again late February - just got to see the weeks my air-miles work out for. So hopefully 2013 is stacking up for an early week in Whistler, another week in Whistler, a wee jaunt to Europe then a week in Heavenly...plus whatever snow Scotland has on offer.tvrolet in 2010 said:

Scotland whenever and where ever there's snow. Had some astonishing days last year including a whole afternoon of fresh tracks in the sun off 'the black run' off Glas Maol at Glenshee
A week or so 'solo' in Feb, probably to the Alps...but I might go back to Colorado if my air-miles can be redeemed when I'm free to go.
Then the annual easter trip to Lake Tahoe/Heavenly - with day trips to Squaw and Kirkwood. We have a shared-ownereship condo in the Marriott beside the gondola (and a 2010/11 season ticket I bought last year that's still good ), so looking forward to that.
And if some other plans come together I might get a few days in Crystal Mountain WA in January too

As my peers have arsed around on my Easter holiday plans so the flights we wanted are now stupid money, we're heading to Whistler for Christmas 2015 & New Year 2016 instead. We were last there for the same period in 2012/2013 and it was THE BEST skiing we've ever had, so fingers crossed for more of the same at the end of this year.
So, La Clusaz in ~4 weeks time for 1 week
2 W/E planned in Switzerland: Engelberg & Grindelwald (5hours drive from here )
Christmas: Whistler

Any tips or recommendations for Courmayeur (intermediate Boarder and skier, probably not ready for reds going into the weekend) ?
Specifically, are there any slopes or areas where no lift pass is required... or any half day passes etc.? We're arriving fairly early on the first day but would be gone 2pm before we get out if at all so rather not spunk 40 euro on a few hours familiarising ourselves!
Cheers all

Personally I'd be classing an intermediate skier as a confident Red skier with the odd taste of black Specifically, are there any slopes or areas where no lift pass is required... or any half day passes etc.? Beginner (as in beyond novice) should be comfortable on blues with the odd Red run to gain experiance.
Am I wrong?
