Berlin, Prague or...?

They have a good website. Its where exotic car dealers and private individuals store their cars. No admission charge and nobody there when I visited. Car are not roped off ,surprisingly, but I was very careful not to touch anything or let a hanging camera scrape anything. Its in Berlin proper.
Sounds perfect. Did you speak to them in advance that you wanted to go? Or just rock up?http://www.remise.de/Classic-Remise-Berlin-english...
This is the link to the car storage facility 'Classic Remise'.
It is slightly out of the city (short metro ride) but well worth a visit, filled with rare exotics. Some are even for sale plus there are workshops so you can see car being worked on close up. It was the highlight of my trip when I visited Berlin last summer.
The technical museum is worth a trip to as well.

Judging by the pictures posted it is exactly the same place although their websites differ slightly. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this? Classic Remise is what I know it as at least - definitely off the beaten track but a necessary visit for any petrolhead visiting Berlin.
My Father and I spent hours wondering round in awe of all the cars.

The Remise used to be called Meilenwerk, however the founder moved on and stopped licencing the name for this place. Apparently, he plans to open up another in Berlin. http://www.meilenwerk.com/meilenwerk/standorte/ber...
I've just come back from a 4 night stay in Berlin.
Its not a pretty city is it?
I was expecting a show-piece of what Europe's superpower nation has achieved with all of its money. But the whole city still looks run-down and in need of a re-vamp.
There are areas like Potsdammer Platz which look modern but the city still seems to be mostly stuck in the past. This was the surprising thing for me.
I was expecting areas which would serve as a reminder of its USSR days, and there are plenty of these, but I wasn't expecting to such an extent.
Even the old 'west' side of the city is not really that pretty. Un-managed grassed areas, not much colour in the Tiergarten, no flowers, a run-down looking zoo, etc. etc.
We did appreciate the museums and also the memorials, but I wouldn't say Berlin is a place to go for 'sightseeing' as such, unless its purely for history.
For some reason I was expecting the levels of what Munich offers. Maybe I didn't read up enough about 'modern' Berlin?
Interesting all the same.

Just dug out these suggestions I made on a thread a while ago, really interesting and worthwhile:
Berliner Unterwelten - a choice of tours, we did Tour 1 (Dark Worlds). An informative 90 minutes of an underground shelter within an underground station. Cost €10 and worth every cent. Unfortunately some of the tours close in October so missed out doing them.
Stasi Prison - a bit out of town but easy to get to via Tram 5 or 6 from Alexanderplatz. A bargain at €5 for a tour that lasted about 75 minutes.

Was in Berlin in 2007. It was an interesting place and I don't know how you can expect that the sightseeing isn't going to be about its history? There was a very modern part with skyscrapers and glass, man made lake, imax cinema etc. Cant remember name of it though. We found there wasnt what we would call a city centre, but a succession of different "centres"in the different districts. Using the U-bahn to get round the different areas was useful. We took an hours train ride out to Potsdam which is very nice with many palaces/gardens etc. Have been to Munich a couple of times and I would say it is more touristy. Apart from them both being German I would say it is difficult to compare them as they are so very different. I certainly wouldn't put anyone off visiting Berlin. Its not a pretty city is it?

If you drop me a PM I will gladly email you a list of things I researched, along with some blurb on them...which might give you a head start
