Hello folks,
Does anyone have a house to rent around the Universal Studios area of Florida at Easter next year?
Alex
Do a general search on PH. There are several threads on Florida Villas and yes a few PHers do own villas. I have done a fair bit of searching on this topic over the last few weeks. We are looking to go in October next year. There is dedicated florida forum out there that has an area where you can post your requirements up and owners then contact you. I'm sorry I can't remember the name, but I think its referenced on one of the threads on here. Does anyone have a house to rent around the Universal Studios area of Florida at Easter next year?

I wouldn't get too hung up on being close to universal. Choose the villa that suits you. There are some out there that are pretty scruffy
We have enjoyed visiting Florida many times and agree with the previous post to choose your villa over location as you will need a car to get the best out of the 'vacation'. Last year we rented a house at the Reunion Resort and found the vast majority of properties were in mint condition. There are many older complexes that are starting to look very tired now so just be careful.

Think that was the web site I had a look at. Sadly, I can't get past the home page at work We are on a budget, so we will probably have to suffer the mid 90s decoration of the cheap ones, but I'd like a pool area that isn't over looked by several other people's villas and pools.
I've actually found a few good ones on Ebay too.

search for something round metrowest - nice neighbourhood 10mins away.
MetroWest is not a nice neighborhood by ANY stretch of the imagination - added to which, it is mainly apartment complex oriented, rather than single family home, surrounded on 3 sides by ghetto and has one of the highest rates of property crime (theft from residences and vehicles) in the city. Avoid. For Universal Studios area, look at Dr Phillips, Bay Hill, Windermere, South Bay areas around Lake Butler chain - close but not cheap, if there is anything available - but also be mindful that properties zoned for short-term rental are very few and far between in Orange County - hence why almost all vacation rentals are in Osceola, Lake and Polk Counties.
You might want to take a look at www.orlandovillas.com
Also be mindful that Wet & Wild is closing imminently, so that corner of the Universal Studios footprint is going to be a gigantic construction site for the next few years.

Whilst this resort isn't right next to the Universal theme parks it is only a relatively short drive and is located on the outskirts of Kissimmee and therefore has easy access to I4 and 192 roads that link to all local theme parks, plenty of local eateries (all budgets), super markets etc etc

Rented a villa there in October 2013 and would thoroughly recommend

I go out there every other year at Easter.
Its a popular time as its a 2 week holiday for UK and also a US holday (Spring Break), so as a result we usually book 18 Months in advance to get our choice of villa and location.
You will need a car anyway, so a 20min drive from Kissimmee is no big deal, if it gets you nicer accommodation as you are going to be there two weeks.
One mistake people make is to try and immediately hit the parks in the first week when the US kids are also off.
Big mistake as you can wait 90mins for a popular ride.
However, if you do all your shopping and sighseeing that week, the waiting times drop to 10-15mins when they have gone. An entire park a day, with multiple rides is easily possible.
I find this graph (albeit Disney) very helpful in planning whether to buy a 14 day or 5 day park ticket.

That link is really useful. Many thanks
I am still in the process of trying to plan 2016 Orlando break. I was close at booking flights that would land us in the busiest period in October
Been looking at a company called Mommondo for the flights. They have a scale where you can see how much flights are on each day

...like Thomas Cook Airlines (who use a Dreamliner with more legroom than a 747).
Thomson Airways not Thomas Cook. I'd hate them to miss out on a booking.I had a similar problem years ago when I asked someone to look up a phone number in the Thomas Cook Local Book.
