Currently in Thailand and spending last two nights in good old Bangkok, know the place fairly well but have never been to any of the famous rooftop bars, not great with heights but it has got to be done.

So which is best and why? Want to go for a couple if cocktails, maybe dinner if it is not a total rip off.

We are staying fairly central in Sukhumvit 18, so more local is better. Sky bar and vertigo seem to be most well known but bar 360 at the millennium Hilton is round the corner and reviews say it is less busy which is a plus.

What are you recommendations and why? Thanks

That's useful thanks FG

Staying in Rembrandt, for no other reason than location and £90/night deal through travel agent which seemed good, don't intend to spend much time there other than sleeping but reviews look ok

I have just had a night at Vertigo (2 weeks ago now).

It was brilliant. The views are amazing, the service is amazing, the food was incredible (just steak but the best stake I've ever had).

I can highly recommend it for the experience.

(not cheap mind)
Thanks, like £30 per head not cheap for Thailand, or £100 per head not cheap in UK?

And did you need to book in advance?

FG - is lumpini a bar? I see a park and a boxing stadium. From Rembrandt to vertigo looks like catching MRT is best bet as I know traffic can be shocking and the MRT goes from Sukhumvit to Lumphini to get to Vertigo in 3 stops.

Any connection between lumpini and Lumphini ?

Some good tips,thanks all

Have not booked in advance but not worried about eating so will just go for some cocktails, after buying some cheap prada fake loafers or similar (have smart trousers and shirt and some smart leather shoes but they are open toed) mad

the skybar cocktails were £35-40 and were OK. I nearly shat when they gave me the bill.
Each? Wtf? This is Bangkok we are talking not St Tropez - that's just stupid

The tripadvisor reviews are talking about London prices which is typically £8-10 per cocktail not £35-45 each - unless person above meant per round or pitcher of cocktails

Hi FG

Just got back - not sure i will do that again, 10 days relaxing in the sun in Hua Hin totally undone by two nights partying in Bangkok !

Rembrandt - good central location, naff rooms and interior ( ok size and clean but just dated colours and bad bathroom styling and design), pool on 4th floor quite good and gets sun all day, breakfasts are supposed to be good but we didn't get up in time for it on either day!! Also no concierge so do you research on the free wifi in the room.

Any other q please just ask

oh and Vertigo was worth the visit - just had a few drinks rather than eating

great to go at 5-7pm when it is sunny, see sun go down, and then see Bangkok at night
