What do you want for your 50th?
Discussion
I'm 50 in a few weeks. My parents want to get me something nice....probably about £750 tops..maybe £1k.
They suggested a Belstaff International coat but I don't know when I would wear it. Other ideas were a watch but I never wear one or a Leatherman tool but I don't think I'd use it.
Sooo...what decent 50th present would you like?
...I might pinch your idea
I dont have hobbies except motorbikes and tinkering.

I was 50 on Saturday and had similar issues with no material things wanted . I ended up with several restaurant vouchers for nice meals out at a couple of local places and a trip to one on the Isle of Wight.
Memories will be created with all of those which is what I wanted.

50th Wedding Anniversary this Saturday.
On topic, and as others have posted, trinkets can be somewhat meaningless for important occasions. For my 50th we planned a long weekend in Bruges with some dear friends of ours. Unfortunately, my 50th was on April 29th 2020 So that was that idea down the drain. New Year's Eve was spent at Jan & Mark's place where we all wished 2020 a merry fk you.
In October 2021, we celebrated my wife's birthday with Jan & Mark at a nice local restaurant when all that covid st had been binned and all was well. Mark fell ill a month later, and Christmas Day he sounded unusually frail during a telephone call. By February 2022, after continual requests for referrals, it was confirmed as pancreatic cancer - 18 months with treatment, maybe 6 without. Mark opted out of treatment, and died 3 months later. 59 years old, an ex semi-professional rugby player, who two years previously had cycled from Lands End to John O' Groats for charity, was gone.
So, from my perspective, celebrate your 50th with your closest friends and family in the most agreeable manner possible.
71 in 12 days, I've been asked the same Q every year for as long as I can remember....
Don't need anything, if I do it'll be something I just get myself. Last year as it was my 70th a flight over the islands, Tiree, Colonsay, Coll, was agreed upon. Still haven't got around to sorting that....

Mine in June. Can't say I'm even slightly interested as I'm not that sentimental about my birthdays. I'll go to work, go home, make tea, help son with homework. Go to work the next day. Job done.
I bought myself a cheap second hand mountain bike last month and I've said that's my present! Then there's no fuss an bother at the time.
