Met Nigel Benn in Las Vegas at the Bruno Tyson rematch - lovely guy who was happy to chat to fans but lost it when over zealous security guards tried to move him and the few of us along. He suddenly became bloody frightening but he stood up for us fans . Top top guy and one bloody hard bd.

Literally bumped into Rick Parfett at a late 80's London motor show when I was around 17 or 18. He was very gracious and asked me what I was in a rush to see (the Ferrari stand !) and pointed the way to it ! Looked exactly the same as in photos - jeans and jean jacket !

Met Kelvin Fletcher whilst driving a cab - looks like his Emmerdale character but a nice guy.

Met Tom Savini who looked exactly like his character Sex Machine in From Dusk Till Dawn. Very funny and down to earth.

Believe it or not I starred in a film with the then unknown Daniel Craig (I was an extra !) He was just one of the lads who liked a drink and a chat in the local pub.

Funny you say this evilmunkey, we met him the first time, nice guy. The subsequent times we have met him - arrogant tosspot.
Strange how these things turn out!

Years ago I worked for Polydor and at one of their industry functions had dinner with Bryan Ferry, Bruce Foxton, Mark Knopfler and Kevin Rowland, plus a bunch of A&R brown-nosers and a few fellow key account managers.
I spent the entire evening sharing Le Mans war-stories with Mr Knopfler. Bryan Ferry got up to go for a slash and never came back, Bruce and Kevin were both too bladdered to figure out what the hell was going on.

I sat across the aisle from Carmen Electra on a flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles and next to Corey Harrison (Pawn Stars) from Vegas to Orlando.

My most fave celeb interactions were on a flight from Frankfurt to Charlotte NC next to Herr Jochen Mass, who was just awesome to chat with about his career and seemed very happy to do so. I also had the great pleasure to chauffeur the late Mr Fulton Mackay (Porridge and Local Hero), who was utterly delightful and fantastically humorous.

I also have racers, Tim Sugden and Andrew Kirkaldy as acquaintances. I'm proper well-connected, me.

I also know some BA long haul staff who say the same, but CB is now apparently banned from BA.
Slightly off topic but seems to validate:

BA have just gone up in my estimation.

When I was starting out as a press photographer in 1973, it fell to me to take a pic of (pre-sir) Bobby Charlton. He was doing the presentation at the retirement of a really nice old chap at a textile mill in Macclesfield.

I had the shot set up, with the old chap and Charlton sitting at a display loom in the reception area. A freelancer from the rival paper took the shot, as I was walking back from the setup to shoot it. Nicking a setup is not done!

Cue Charlton playing up and acting like a total funt.He gave me grief for wasting his time and worse, he was upsetting the retiree - definitely not done IMO.

I got the shot and fked off without even acknowledging. I thanked the old chap instead.

Clarkson. Absolute legend nice chap
A few years ago he was filming locally; TBH Dunsfold isn't far away from where I live anyway, he and some of his film crew popped into the pub that the MIL works at, she said he was a lovely guy and would happily chat to anyone.
Absolute opposite of what I've heard first hand about him.h

I met the TG guys in Hanoi, Vietnam, when they were filming their Christmas special in Autumn 2008.
They rolled in to the hotel (Sheraton, IIRC), pissed as farts and joking about late at night, had a brief chat with them, we were pissed too, and all was well.
One of the guys in our group owned the matte black Conti GT Jeremy had driven on TG, told him he owned it and Jeremy jokingly shouted, "You BOUGHT the fking blackboard with the champagne cooler?!?!"
Next morning at breakfast, Jeremy and James arrived first, clearly very hungover, red eyed, and chatted to a lot of hotel guest. Hammond was so pissed still that he couldn't stand properly in line for his omelette, swaying slowly from side to side.

I had books by all 3 of them as my holiday reading fodder and they all signed all 3 for me. smile

Is it true that Hammond gets flown in to film TG in a helicopter & talks to no-one. Does show & leaves ASAP, talking to no-one?

As a musician, it's given me some decent opportunities over the years.

Some you may not of heard of, I can't remember all.

Edwin Starr (rip)
Kelly Growcott ELO (rip)
Stone Roses
Charlatans
Steve Hackett Genesis
Tight Fit
Big Country
Norman Watt Roy
Wilko Johnson
Ruby Tunner

Not one of the above left a derogatory impression, really decent folk but I didn't meet them as a fan, so maybe famous folk have a different persona when they meet us.

Sir Chris Hoy, multiple gold medal winner and all round British sporting hero but in a late trackday briefing for 5-6 punters he stood quietly and paid attention even though he'd no doubt heard it all before, showed a lot more respect than a lot of non-celebs that you'd see.

Bumped into him again at a couple of other track events and he always said hello, never got the photo my Mrs kept asking for though - I always felt like it would be a bit of an imposition to ask although he no doubt gets it all the time.

Interesting thread btw and nice to see that there's more good reports than bad.

I also worked with Tiff once, seemed like a good guy even when the punters weren't around.

Katherine Jenkins. Abhorrent. Demands a brand new toilet in the suite she gets when performing onboard a cruise ship, and that no crew talk to her.

Amanda Holden. Tiny, stunning to the 13yo me. Very friendly and seemed interested in my inane drooling.

Jenson Button. Top, top bloke. Gave my 4yo the proper time of day and treated his views on the upcoming season as though they were inspired.

Alan Rickman. Self important tosser.

Mel Jones. Lovely guy. Quite serious and not the wisecracker I thought he'd be.

Nicolas Lyndhurst. Very serious chap. Hates the attention Rodney has brought him so seems to treat any time out in public as an ordeal.

Davina McCall. Difficult to say. She was so intent on her post pregnancy marching dust diet that little else was apparent.

They're all just people aren't they. Good, bad, indifferent.
