it's quite a narrow band generally north of the M4.
Blast, as we're just south of the M4...though we are at 500ft above sea level. Have taken a look at netweather this morning; this looks interesting...Having said that a battleground scenario between cold and wet in the next week or so isn't implausible.
Altitude counts for a lot in today's event but I live a few miles south of the M4 at 350 feet and I'm not hopeful.
Had quite a moment this a.m. I live next to a 1:4 hill which has a double bend on it. The road is usually gritted, but one of the two lorries is bust, so instead we had sheet ice. Going down it with hill descent control at 5 mph (I'm in a 4x4 RR) it was still pretty hard to keep it on the tarmac (200 ft drops on the near side of the road, no armco). Coming back I found myself behind the dustbin lorry, which was doing it's best to slide backwads towards me. The guys get out with shovels to find grit/earth... anything to get them up the hill... but they start sliding backwards too! Buster Keaton would have loved it.
Took me forever to get the 1 mile back to my house.
This is the top of the hill in the dry (when artics still get stuck). You can see the problem.
As you were, snow thread.

Must not get hopes up.

Heavy frost here in thame this morning!
I read that it's the worst skiing season in places due to lack of snow, is that true? Might have read it in the mail...
You are correct - it's been the worst start to the season for many years however the Alps are expected over 40 inches of snow over the coming few days.I read that it's the worst skiing season in places due to lack of snow, is that true? Might have read it in the mail...

Well my area has turned back to rain all day what a surprise.
I think on here we are starting to take the weather personally, another day of drizzle, cheers ! but it is what it is, we live where we live, the downside is that it can be pretty dismal, but then we dont have serious water shortages, we seem to want cold, but if we were in Vladivostoc, I am sure we would be preying for 10C and a bit of drizzle in a couple of weeks, like our drizzle, snow is only a novelty for a short time, but would like the chance the novelty to wear off.schmalex said:
Shropshire will see around 15 / 20cm, stating from around 1700ish. It'll freeze over night, so will stick around for a few days. You'll drive out of it pretty quickly as you travel North, though, so no travel issues
I'm at ~200m in South Shrops and would be surprised to see that tonight - where are you getting that forecast from?Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
