Not so sure, it seems to be pivoting to a more northerly direction (Reading bound! wink )

The second rain area has shrunk and narrowed considerably and pulled west, looks like most areas will just get a short burst with risk decreasing rapidly the further East you are.

BBC said London was in for a wallop from this second shower area just a short while ago, when the radar already said slim chance!
Lightning petering out in the easterly storm too frown

Plymouth-Ivybridge took the brunt of the western storm.

Looks like the eastern one is dying out. Hopefully it will reach land and reinvigorate eek

I'm afraid if there are storms in that area of Manchester, they'll be before evening. But storms can be hit or miss...

Building up nicely here. Constant noise, but the lightning is all up high.

More storms forming in the Channel. One about to hit Dorset part of Lyme Bay and then another hit for Bournemouth soon.

Round 2 kicking off in West Berks. Dog just attacked the door to his room...

Waiting for kids to come and complain.

<yawn>

Dog started doing his nut again at 02.30, finally all settled down at 04.30. Just as the storm was north of us, one final bang right above. Woke the kids up too.

All gone now. We avoided the worst of it for both storms - grrrr!

It's taken me 30 mins this morning to re-automate the house (Sonos, Echo, Hue) after the power tripped in the first storm. BT router flaked out and didn't start correctly.

The lightning detector was certainly at 'mental' - posts in here confirmed it.

It was. Maidstone here and I thought we were being bombed when the thunder woke me up!

Clearly a st ton of rain judging by the state of the roads this morning.
Eastern side of Reading received over 5cm in 2 hours during the first storm

Keeping a close eye on the future (mainly cos I'm off on to holiday to central France next week...)

We've stepped back from the brink of an utterly terrible prolonged outlook for the UK - charts indicating a respite as a ridge comes in from the Azores High. Hopefully they've got it right now.

Just been to see the school play (it's that time of year). The dad in front of me had a Nokia, filming his son who had the star part. His camera filmed everything out of focus (he didn't seem to notice!).

Low pressure dominates Fri/Sat - models are really struggling after that but generally looking like a prolonged unsettled spell. It is the start of the summer holidays, of course.

3rd wettest July on record for Reading apparently. It's only rained 5 times, and we're still 2/3rds in to the month!

Tomorrow won't help for the sun worshippers either! Glad we're not up north.
