Now, with regard to stirring etiquette, is it acceptable to tap the spoon on the side of the cup after stirring?
You nose the stilton don't you? Go on, admit it.
<nervously asking> Is there anything wrong with doing that. I thought it was just a basic instinctive thing to do to sniff before placing a tangy cheesy thing in your mouth.

C'mon now, lets not be retarded....I think I made it quite simple.
Stir in one direction, 3 full revolutions per 6-8 grams of sugar. Obviously this multiplies if your a builder. Just as you complete the last and final revolution (Note: At this point you will have created a whirlpool effect in your cup WHICH can rise too far but that's another lesson for the more hardcore advanced users) By sudddenly changing direction you ultimately confuse the tea, Where do I go? (Thinks the tea) And it's at this precise point you force the whirlpol turmoil into submission and all that's left is a calm, placid cup of tea.

Go it? You thick fk?
Confuse the tea? Utter madness, nothing tastes worse than a bewildered beverage.

I notice you also slighly attempt to cast dispersions on the sweetness levels enjoyed by our hard working craftsmen as if in some way you are morally superior becuae you only 1 lump and not 2.

Hardcore advance users? Get over yourself.

I'm not even going to mention your foul and abusive language (although I obviously just have)...

I made no mention of my chickens anywhere in my post. The rest was because you called me a tt....and that really hurt!

It did.

I whole heartedly apologise for any offence caused and can only suggest that it was a rare moment of madness due to my concern for the safety and wellbeing of other PH'ers.

I stir my tea with a custard cream.

Thats just wrong;
your drinking tea out of a bowl.
you dont use a custard cream like that.
only milky beverages should have a cream sandwich bisuit dunked in them.

Rule, rules, rules.

What is it with you people?

Don't get me wrong, I'm utterly disgusted at Rutter's suggestion also but what a pervert chooses to do in the privacy of his own kitchen is his business.

Although if I saw that kind of behavior in the cafe in M&S I'd be livid.

I was going to post this in the "Misbadged Spoons" thread, but couldn't find it:

Even a novice can spot that it is the later, and considerably inferior Towle '72. You're only kidding yourself fella!

As long as they aren't msrepresenting in an attempt to sell it then I see no harm. Not everyone can afford the top stirrers.

I once saw a coffee spoon incorrectly badged as a teaspoon in my local John Lewis store. As you can see from the diagram below this is a ridiculous mistake and one that i can ensure you was rectified after a long conversation with the store manager.

If done well and with a modicum of sympathy I have no real issues with them.

There are a lot of shoddy ones around though with wrong stem lengths, incorrect bowl diameter etc. You just need to make sure that the donor spoon is correctly specified and many wouldn't know the difference at a glance.

I don't see why that is so funny? Nothing worng with applying modern techniques.

I'm not a fan per-se......I would prefer to keep as original as my budget would allow.

Oh and a quick heads up. Some dodgy fkers on ebay are passing off tea spoons as original. I know this because on closer inspection it was in fact a ringer using the commonly found canteen fork as a donor.

Buyer beware.

Yes.

Tea without a biscuit (dunked) is an opportunity wasted.

I see they've just announced the new Porsche Boxstir at the Geneva Spoon show.

Looks exactly the same as the frigging last one.

yes

Some good advice for once...

Always amazes me how easily some people are fooled into buying these obvious copies in there excitement to attain that one last peice for their canteen.

Always take your time over cutlery, that's the rule I live by.

It's evolution for the Germans, not revolution. When there's nothing wrong with the basic design why mess with it.

I have heard that some of the cheaper German models are prone to understir though? Whilst i know that this is probably a safer trait for the majority of the spoon buying public I still find myself slightly disappointed by this.

Has anyone got any experience of this?
