Summer HAS officially begun.

I saw a broken down old style VW camper van on the M40 today.

As already suggested, a mere hint of Summer on the horizon. smile

I do find that the Beeb tends to downplay the temps in comparison.

Am I missing something here? Has summer actually bypassed us this year and been waylayed by some other land mass. I'm still cycling in my winter gear. It's flippin cold.
Officially summer doesn't start until tomorrow.... but they are forecasting warmer, sunnier weather for later this week.

We..will..see.
April was very dry and pretty warm throughout may has been a bit chilly some days nice the next and some days of rain nothing unnormal for may. June is looking good though.

Friday's warmth has changed quite considerably, as you can see. Very much confined to the SE for proper warmth, but pleasant in much of the South.

Good news is that although this burst of warmth is temporary, we are then looking like moving to widespread warmth next week and even hot spells as high pressure settles in for much of June.

shout Here comes the summer...

Finally got to see the sun properly today, after yesterday's complete wash out, pesky front seemed to take an age to clear the area.

Also was the first time we used our £15 B&Q bbq - absolutely stonking value - passed with flying colours. Mid-week bbq consisting of freshly caught mackerel, chicken, local bangers and the obligatory burgers. Roll on the rest of the summer. smile

Big thunder storms looking more and more likely for Friday as a plume of warm/moist contintental air move up. Danger area is east of A34 Oxford-Southampton line and up in to East Anglia.

Cold northerly wind over the weekend - might be quite a shock at night.

Some kind of high pressure most likely to dominate next week - finer details difficult to pin down. Might not be that hot.

Hope the fair people of Kent enjoyed their weather today - almost up to 27oC and a string of thunder storms. In contrast it was sunny but pretty cold in Berkshire!

Some kind of high pressure and warmth still on the cards next week after a bit of a cool down over this weekend (but dry in most parts!)

Think I'm gonna get me one of these widgety weather stations, and see if I can rig it up to a Raspberry Pi to continuously transmit it's data to Weather Underground which I discovered today, also is a very good Android App, and presumably ios too.

This chart is an 'anomaly chart' - shows the difference between the forecast temperature for the next 10 days and the average for the next 10 days. Doesn't make good viewing! Blue = cooler than normal.

The week shouldn't be too bad, dry and cool. Next weekend isn't looking good at all, but that's not certain yet.

Another sublime day here, 20 degrees, clear blue skies, light north westerly. Pics taken from 10km cliff walk. Finished the day off by lighting up the bbq. Twice in three days, getting to be a habit.

Spent the afternoon in Greenwich Park, despite a lot of clouds the OH has caught the sun on his face and I've got a bit of pink on my arms.

Wandering around a museum tomorrow so less chance to burn XD

Yesterday was lovely in Berkshire - that evil glacial wind, that I warned you about, died down!

High pressure in charge this week, but never hot. Thurs/Fri sees the risk of storms in the South because a low pressure system will be hanging around the Bay of Biscay.

Seemed to be a bit of local frost around us here in the North East last night!

16 degrees currently so nice in the sunshine. Hoping the weather builds now as we are firmly into camping and BBQ season so its always good to have some decent overnight temps as well. Sick of single figures!
