That's interesting - where do you get these samples? Thanks
I use these guys http://www.scentsamples.uk.com/ but there are others offering the same thing.
Cheers, will give that a try!

Maybe some do, but I prefer to buy 2ml samples to see if I like the scent and larger samples if I do.

For example, you could spend £200 on a Creed bottle and not like it or £3 in a 2ml sample or £22 on a 10ml sample.

OK you don't get a pretty bottle but you do get the option to try many different scents that would cost thousands if you were to buy full bottles each time.
Yep. I think most people find that, whilst it's nice to have the full bottle, quite often they get bored / don't like it after a while and end up selling it.

Makes far more sense to buy samples if you want to have lots of fragrances, in my opinion.

Whilst yes, I've spent over £200 on one bottle before (Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille), and I've bought full bottles more than samples so far, I will be buying more samples in future (also known as 'decants').

I generally wear aftershave every day.

Creed - Aventus

Penhaligons - Endymion

Boss - Bottled

Hollister - Jake

Abercrombie & Fitch - Colden

Without question it is the Creed that yields the most "You smell nice" comments.

Boss Bottled for me, it's relatively cheap and inoffensive and most of the girls I know like it.

Yep. That's why I have it in my little collection. It's a great everyday smell for work/office etc

Really surprised at the amount of blokes who still wear aftershave. IMO as bad a a woman with cheapo perfume.

Why would a man wearing good to high quality aftershave be at all similar to a woman wearing 'cheapo perfume'?

Is there anything wrong with smelling nice?

Of course if you completely doused yourself in something nasty then yes, you wouldn't be popular to those you sit right next to at work, but no one here is advocating that kind of aftershave use.

Aftershave is very important to nourish the skin after you just removed the dead cells and exposed a softer layer of skin. An aftershave splash will cleanse and tighten the skin; and an aftershave balm will moisturize and soothe the skin.

I find it amazing that Creed, which is supposed to be a niche fragrance is so widely known
First result on Googling "expensive men's aftershave", perhaps...

I use various Acqua di Parma & Tom Ford aftershaves.

Only use them because I get them all for free, my mum works on in a store that sells them and gets plenty of testers.

Never wore EDT until I started DE shaving. Now I have, erm, a few bottles!

Favourite ranges are probably Penhaligons (Castile probably my favourite one) and Caron (Yatagan or Pour Un Homme).

Great to see Basenotes mentioned. I am a huge fragrance collector. As Humans are beyond lucky to be able to enjoy the sense of smell (bad smells exempt). There are fragrances that are just too common and should be avoided. Such as Le Male. Dear god Le Male is everywhere and people wear far far too much of it. Saying that, I love Kouros which is a love hate for many. Creed is good stuff. Dior private line.
Kuros....the 80s called and want their fragrance back....

(I loved it as a teenager! along with other 80s classics like Jazz and Drakkar Noir, Xerius....ahh memories, Club Pasha, Rotherham. great days hehe

Spirit based
I found the smell evaporated too quickly, which happens with spirit based stuff
Eau Savage is the same
Aramis is oil. based and lasts longer.

Balms are good, however I found Nivea creme in a flat blue tin at about £4 is
much more suitable after a close shave.

Just find it a bit 80s and vain with men these days. And it's the impact of the smell that is similar to a girl wearing cheapo perfume. If I'm out sociably and a bloke nearby is donning his favourite odour, then I tend to think "knob".
