Quite nearby to that one (on the M25 clockwise at Chalfont St Peter) there's an ongoing graffiti fest on a fence alongside the left side the M40 between J1 and J2 London bound. It seems to change all the time.

That one used to say "Why do I do this everyday?" which was kind of imaginitive. It was painted over and I think someone replaced it with "new team supreme" or something like that. not sure what it says now though.
There's one that changes quite regularly on the M40 a few junctions before the M25 too (London bound), in a field, on a big wall in the hillside, but clearly visible. I'm not sure if it's the same one you're talking about?

Don't know if they're still there but on the path around the back of Leam train station was written in big green writing, "Unstraightness" followed a little further along, in the same writing "Avoid Cider".

Yeah that's the one! On the M40 just before the M25 filter lane begins

It said "Incinerators Kill!" last time I saw it - there's a bit of a shamozzle over an incinerator nearby. There's a couple of other messages not entirely complimentary to Tony Blair too...

The one I heard of which always made me laugh the most is a sign outside the port in Liverpool which read "Mersey Docks and Harbour Board" to which someone had added "and little lambs eat ivy."
Sweet.
The person who wrote that one must be getting on a bit !

As seen on a wall near the station in Sheffield:

"Acsepting nuderty will end rape"

I'll take a walk and see if it is still there tomorrow.

Oh and a piece of cardboard tied to the sign post at the tram stop - www.maggiethatchersfuneral.com or something to that effect.

My favourite sprung up on a wall in Perth, back in the 1980's, when Aboriginal land rights and ending whaling was big.

It read

"Land rights for gay whales..."

It still makes me chuckle 25 years later.

There was a sign at my local many years ago, that originally said:

Beer Garden
at Rear

And it had been modified to:

Beer Garden
Cats Rear

Well it always made me smirk.

When the A27/A23 bypass was built, some bright spark decided to brighten(...) up the Brighton bound entrance by placing a sign

Welcome to Brighton and Hove..

which soon became

. Welcome to Brighton and Hovel

which tuned into

.. Welcome to Brighton and Shovel

which then became

... Welcome to our town

and is now just

.... Welcome

Nothing as simple as simplicity itself.

I saw "we are the people are parents warned us about" scribbled on a fence once.

It made me chuckle.

Edit: Found using google.

Personal fav was the Public Library sign in Walton on Thames. Someone kept stealing the L in Public. In the end they took down the Public bit entirely if memory serves.
