I know someone who has killed another person. He had sought help several times and was turned away from a psychiatric hospital. He had been pushed around and bullied all his life, taken advantage of by scumbags who knew exactly what they were doing. One night he cracked and killed one of the people involved.

Only now has he been given the help he needs and he is doing well, he was found guilty of murder by reason of insanity. I don't view him any differently, he was wronged by society and let down by the system when he actively sought help. He is as quiet and as gentle a man as you could hope to meet and he is my Uncle.

I do realise this is a gross example of one-upmanship, sorry, but I did meet Tony Blair once!

I met quite a few murderers in my time working in a police custody unit. They were a mix of blokes who had killed their spouse in arguments (rarely convicted of murder), a few nutters, teenagers who got mixed up in bizzare groups/gangs with a bit of group think going on, sadistic loners who invariablty did for the people who showed them any kindness and a few really quite scarey professonal criminals.

Aye, a bloke I went to school with got heavily into drugs, and whilst high as a kite stabbed his mum repeatedly with a screwdriver... He was a genuinely nice guy at school, I don't believe he'd have been capable of such a horrific act if it wasn't for the drugs.. frown

Also, last week I was sitting in the corner of the pub supping a pint and reading a biography, when a middle-aged bloke covered in tattoos sits on the next table. I spot he has a couple of tears tattooed next to his eye, which I think is a sign of two murders. I then absorbed myself in my book till he left, and yes, I'm a wuss! biggrin

Yup a lad got transferred into our class in year 10 from another school. He had just been aquitted of manslaughter.

Turned out he ha been bullied by the same lad since nursery school and he had tried the whole talking and dealing with it through the school and teachers and it lasted until year9 and he snapped and turned around punched the guy once on the side of his head and he died.

Cheers for that Elskeggso, interesting how the meanings change over time. I really should have attempted to start a conversation with the fella, I'm sure he'd have a tale or two to tell! But, like I said, I'm a wuss! biggrin

A lad I went to school with was fighting with his older brother when he was a young kid. He pushed him and he tumbled down the stairs, whacked his head and died. He told us this when he was himself dying of cancer; he said that his illness was payback for killing his brother. It seemed it was something he had never forgiven himself for, as he spoke about it several times after that. A few years after he died, his sister died too, also from cancer. It can't have been nice for his parents seeing all three of their kids die before reaching adulthood.

I know this guy linky He plays at my poker club. Really nice guy and when I found out about this, my chin hit the floor. Apparently (and I'm not brave enough to do this) but if you ask him if he did it, he just pulls a face and shrugs. :shudder:

My ex's cousin joined the PLO and ended up killing some Israelis in Cyprus.
I only met him the once and he seemed a nice enough guy but when you read about what he'd done with the PLO maybe not. Apparently Mosad would like to make his aquaintance.

Yes, I do. A friend killed a friend. Drugged up, fight breaks out, picks up brick, hits wrong person.
RIP Sam.
I haven't seen him since as he's serving a long stretch for manslaughter and I certainly see him in a different light now.

My wife killed a lad a few years ago.

The tcensoredt was on an unroadworthy uninsured bike, going round a blind corner on the wrong side of a NSL road. Didn't stand a chance.

Every year his parents get an article put in the local paper about how he was killed by a car driver, not that he was thick and caused many sleepless nights for my wife and her 3 year old son.

my cousin has just been given 30 years for torturing and killing a rapist, then hiding his body in a storm drain
Didn't he get a medal?

As to the OP, short of those in my family who are/were military - No I don't think so (though I suppose it isn't something most people advertise). My Grandparents hardly ever talked about it either.

I know a bloke ex-para who now works in private security in Iraq. Needless to say he now earns a fortune to do what he is told to do. Never mentions a word. Sound bloke too!
