14 years, what have you done?
Discussion
Lost my grandfather
Left School
Bought 5 cars
Met a beautiful girl
Started a job, put some plans in place
19 my dad walked out, leaving me a mortgage(ruined the above plans)
Took on another job to fund the aforementioned mortgage.
Suffered Depression
Sold my house to move to a quieter area
Left my job after a breakdown
Got beaten half to death
Attempted Suicide
Xmas - Left my GF (to this day no idea why)
Got my job back, got promoted
Got my girlfriend back
Grew up
Realised there are people out there who have it much worse than myself
Changed my own life
Thanks x

Got horrible insurance job
I feel so sorry for you. I got an insurance job 27years ago, I still do an insurance job.I dreaded becoming what all my workmates were: old and bored, having spent ALL their lives doing just the job I did for a mere 14 years..... the ultimate vision of hell.... a life spent doing a job you hate.
Got 11 GCSE's, 3 A levels, 1 Bachelor Degree and an acceptance for a Masters.
Rented 2 flats and bought a house.
Passed my driving test and owned 2 cars.
Got a girlfriend and kept her for 8.5 years so far.
Lost 3 grand parents and 1 dog and 1 cat.
Had 1 school job and 1 real job.
Been on 7 foreign holidays.
Bought or been gifted 8 guitars and 4 amplifiers.
Seen over 100 different bands.
Probably grown a foot and gained 5 stone (I was only 11 in 2000!)

Retired.
Had 3 heart attacks.
Gave up show jumping, falling off hurts much more when you are over 70.
Restored a car.
Drove it 70,000 Km in 12 years, & restored it again.
Bought a few cars.
Gave one each to the kids. I'm better at buying them than selling them.
Built a new shed to keep the cars in.
Nothing much really.

On Jan 1st 2000 I was 12. So, quit a lot.
Finished high school with good highers/A levels
Decided to go to university at 16
Struggled with continual slide in to depression
Work out far too late that 16 was a poor choice
Have to take a year out due to depression/anxiety
Finally graduate at 21
Couldn't get a job as it was 2009
Went back to uni to do a Post Grad Diploma in Aerospace Engineering
Come out and immediately get my dream job
Move from West Lothian to Essex
Travel the world with work
Meet my Mrs in 2012
Buy a house in early 2014
Got a dog in June 2014
Had loads of cars
My plan now is to try and be happy - keep that anxiety/depression at bay.

Well I'm 26 now, so here goes:
My parents split up when I was 14, my mum just left, she'd been seeing someone else, we have barely spoken since
Leave high school at sixteen
Started an apprenticeship as an electrician straight away
Finish said apprenticeship
Worked all over the UK, did some time on the building sites too, which was a great laugh
Crashed and wrote off a Honda S2000 whilst driving like a tool
Drank myself into financial and physical ruin, ended up broke and lost several friends cos' of the way I acted
Met my current girlfriend working on a job in Aberdeen, we have been together just over four years
Did a years long distance until I decided to man up and move here, best thing I ever did
Bought a flat together
Sold that and bought a house
Taught myself how to program several SCADA pieces of software on the side - much blood, sweat and tears
Contracted for two large O&G firms, instrumentation and programming work
Now working a steady job on the books, its the happiest I have been at work since 2009
Owned six cars in total, two of them I currently still have, a Clio RS200 and a Volvo V40
Briefly owned a motorbike
Cant complain all in all, I've made a few mistakes, and have done a few things I'm not proud off, but I'm happy with where I am at the moment!

This time 14 years ago I was 8 so a fair bit.
Finished primary school
Finished secondary school with good GCSEs
Meet first GF
Get driving licence and an amazing Corsa C Club
Went to college and got mediocre qualifications (due to my own laziness more than anything)
Decide I want to work in hospitality, end up running a B&B after a few other jobs as chef/bar manager/housekeeping etc.
Ditch GF no 1. (Thank fk)
Chop in Corsa and buy Saxo VTR, nice car shame about the drivers
Meet (Unbeknownst to me at the time) GF no 2.
Leave B&B move to France and work in a dirty run down(Unbeknownst to me at the time) chalet hotel in the Pyrenees
Come back and find a job outside hospitality with proper working hours
Things get more serious with GF no 2.
Get promoted a few times at job
Get motorcycle licence and amazing 1995 GPZ
Sell Saxo as too small for me, buy 9-5 Aero
Move to another company in same field offering better money
Buy house with GF no 2
Realise house needs full renovation
Get GF no 2 pregnant
Realise the grass was not greener at new company
Move again to another company that I'm working at now, much better than the other previous jobs and something I can see myself doing for the foreseeable future
Get tired of Saab fuel costs, buy Mondeo TDCI
Leave GPZ to rust and buy Triumph Trophy
Finish renovation of house (More or less)
Now just waiting for child No 1 to pop out (Due next week)
Finished primary school

- broken away from a poor working class northern upbringing
- got a car and motorbike licence

- become a chartered engineer
- got a job paying me more than I ever dreamt I would earn at the age of 20
- had numerous g/f's and dalliances

Settled on a career which I'm still working in
Finally got myself a car that led me down a path of spaffing stupid amounts of money on it (but it was fun!)
Met my current OH via the car club I belonged to
Finally moved out of home (I was 33 for goodness sake!)
Settled on the South Coast (love it here)
Finally ditched my little warm hatch after 7 years of faithful ownership
Lost over 6 stone
Changed jobs twice
Lost my Mum
Got my current little hot hatch
Spent 9 lonnnng boring months unemployed
Finally been on some proper foreign holidays and been to some awesome countries (Germany, Dubai, Morocco, Malaysia)
Got a job (yay!) which I've been in for a year and just about to take some exams for a profession specific qualification
No kids, no house (yet!). Just living my life & trying to have fun doing so

14 years. Considering I was 7 all that time ago (two thrids of my life infact) I'd consider quite a lot, so in no particular order:
1. Moved to our current family home.
2. Welcomed our two cats and two dogs to our home (all rescues).
3. Passed all my school exams in Primary and Secondary school.
4. Moved Secondary school to one in the Kent countryside.
5. Made some new, even better friendships.
6.(Sadly) had to say goodbye to some much loved family members (two of the dogs, and one of the cats included).
7. Got myself out into the big wide world of work, and just got myself a job at a company I've wanted to get a foot in the door at for circa 4 years.
8. Learnt to drive at the age of 10 on private land, took part in Autotests and Autosolos, and passed my driving test a couple of months after my 17th birthday, followed by IAM last year, and some training with another advanced driving group
9. Plenty of others I've not thought about/forgotten to put down here, but suffice to say a lot has happened in my life already
