Fantastic pics chaps.

Is there a PH type meet where everybody goes and visits derelicts? I'd love to get on one of those.

Fascinating stuff guys, please keep them coming. smile

Don't have any pictures i'm afraid but a good story,

Years ago whilst i was still in the fire service we went to visit an old hospital that had been closed down, a common thing to familiarise ourselves for when they got torched.

Whilst having a wander round we went into an office where there were quite a few metal storage cabinets and one of the guys opened one of them.....

There was a young boy hiding inside and when the door opened he was just standing frozen with fear, well needless to say we absolutely sh@t ourselves, initially a couple of us thought he was dead. After us all jumping (and some screaming) the boy started crying. Once everyone calmed down we asked him what he was doing, it turned out he was exploring with a couple of pals and saw the fire engine coming in. They thought they would be in big trouble so decided to hide, him choosing this bloody cabinet!

Cue a lecture from the gaffer to the boy about going into locking cupboards and several supposed hairy arsed firemen emptying the crap out their trousers hehe

No pics but i remember i worked at a place in Walsall called 'Walsall Lithographics'. In the basement the were a series of tunnels which snaked to a fire escape on the first floor!

The branching tunnels were blocked off but it was still well cool...

Nocton Hall

RAF Nocton Hospital

Nocton nursing Home (Very spooky Place)

I mentioned Nettleham Hall earlier, well got a fairly cool story, was there for a second trip and spotted and underground cellar I had not seen before, it was dark I was on my own and had no torch so took a few flash shots in the cellar and planned to return the following day

When I got home I found this in the pictures

Asked a few people who I knew had been there and they had never seen anything like that, and it didnt look like a peice of an old statue so have to say I started to worry a little bit when everyone kept saying call the police. I had to know for sure what it was before I did anything so went back with some lads and a big torch..

Some very real looking severed hands from a test shoot for a horror film there. laugh

Ah I love urbexing.

I have just discovered that the weird old place near his village I meant to explore when younger, was actually used for overnight storage of nuclear weapons, and the handy "thingy" I used to sit on in the field and have a smoke, was actually the ventilation hatch of an underground cold war bunker! Who knew

ROC bunker link here: http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php...

West Dean Nuclear storage facility here: http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/sites/d/dean_hi...

I know what I will be doing come crimbo time when I go to visit the rents.....

These pics are from a family holiday in Sri Lanka two years ago, I did actually post this on 28DL but it's since been deleted it would seem. Looking back, I was a bit stupid and mental doing this.

The view from my hotel had this severely damaged building on the skyline, which for some weird reason, interested me.

This is the railway I followed out from the relative safety of my guarded hotel, they did recommend I didn't leave, but meh.

Totally uninhabited, right?

On approaching the hotel I was accosted by an English speaking local, they'd never seen a westerner before apparently, the English speaking bloke banged on a corrugated iron gate, before it was scraped open to revel 20 odd squatters, who were none too happy at first.

Spot which one wasn't too happy...

From what I was told in 1982 the government of Sri Lanka suspected Tamil leaders were shacked up here, so rushed the place, threw grenades and opened fire on the residents (there were bullet holes in the walls). The tour guide bloke told me some residents ended up in the pool, dead.

The bar on the top floor...

I was helped up to the roof, where I took this shot of the comparative safety I'd stupidly left behind...I heard the word Canon pop up a few times in conversation, not great...my camera I later found out, what the equivalent of 12 year salary for the average Sri Lankan man, though these blokes had no jobs.

Apparently a bullet hole, this was on the top floor.

Some kind of cupboard, the tour guide bloke called them 'black birds' he meant bats of course!

The kitchen...

I had the foresight to take cash with me, which I used to 'buy' my freedom, I got the hell out of there as quick as possible!

Ok a bit of a cheat since I didn't take these pictures, but I have visited both places.

Centralia, in Pennsylvania. Coal mining town was abandoned in the 60s and 70s after the coal seam it was built to mine caught fire.

Don Muang International Airport, Bangkok. Abandoned in 2006 in favour of Suvanamwhatsit. You can still fly domestic from the terminal next door, but the international terminal is empty.

I work in deepest darkest Vietnam, extremely rural and not many luxuries, about 6 months ago i was caught short with appendicitis and had to get myself, very sharpishly, to the local "hospital". You can see that i had a wonderful stay and as you can imagine i thoroghly enjoyed it. This is what i found:

The Canteen:

My ward:

Recovery Ward Toilet:

Close up:

Relatives waitng to see patients:

I was in there for two and a half days in total and being the only foreigner in there the doctors were very interested in getting me out as fast as possible, i was told to go to my hotel room to recover as it would be cleaner and less chance of catching an infection yikes I was offered a "private" recovery room which cost an extra US$4/day, certainly not the Hilton.
