I have heard Belgium is a good placew for shooting as they have quite relaxed laws. Anybody know a range over there that hires pistols to poms?

managed to get to a range last time I was in Hungary but don't want to go that far and can't afford America frown

last timne I was in the states I had to stop not because I ran out of money for ammo (mind you its gone up a hell of a lot) but my thumb gave out after about 400 rounds smile I just couldn't push them in the magazine any more. Should have switched to a revolver smile

I have thanks , something about killing is not very appealing to me . Personally I think if you enjoy that sort if stuff you got some serious issues .
Its not all killing, guns are also sometimes used for fun and a hobby at target practice and competitions.

Exceptionally

But really , why would you want a gun unless you wanted to kill stuff . I wonder if paedo's have the same attitude , "Well you know, Im just looking at pictures in my own time , in private , without molesting anyone . What's the harm in that" ?

I know not quite the same thing , but you could see where im coming from

don't worry about him, its his opinion and he is welcome to it. I like guns, I don't know why I do, but I just do. Its not big and its not clever but for some reason I really enjoy shooting bits of paper with pistols and rifles and will not appologise for it.

If that means I have issues then so be it.

Interesting that it says "Weapon". Does this license permit you to carry around more exotic "cutlery"?

Also, I assume ammunition is like water over there? As opposed to the strict limits on the amount of ammo you can hold for Section 1 weapons over here.

Finally, is there much interest in black powder weapons in the states? AFAIK they're pretty much the only pistol firearm you can use in the UK for sporting purposes these days.

Why pick on shooting and not archery or even fencing.... both bow & arrows and swords were invented for the same purpose as the gun, and both of those like shooting, are Olympic sports.

Yes on the cutlery. Allowed but I don't. Although I do keep a microtech scarab qd in the car for emergencies.

Ammunition - Put it this way, I have over 2000 rounds of M855 5.56 penetrator rounds, 500 rounds of Silver State armory 77 grain 5.56 (similar to the Mk 262 round for the SPR) alone. I also have about 500 7.62x39 and about 1000 each for each pistol type that I own. No that's not much if you consider a day at the range, but, yes, ammo unlimited (and mail-orderable)

There are ALL types of firearm interests in the US. There are some folks that use modern black powder guns for hunting. Then there is Cowboy Action Shooting (similar to practical shooting but with spitoons and ladies with bussels) If there is a sport for firearms, it exists in the US. Black powder arms require no registration, waiting period, etc and are mail order friendly.

An acquaintance of mine keeps about 12,000 rounds of 5.56 and climbing. That was the last time he mentioned it, a couple of years back; he doesn't trust Barry O'bama not to try to do something foolish about firearms laws.

Looking at Gen 4 Glock 19 prices.

Mods, please lock the thread before I go broke.

The local constabulary carry gen 4 Glock 19s here. They are nice. A member of the local Sherrif's SWAT team drops his daughter off at the same school bus-stop in the morning and let me take a look at his new piece when I dropped the kids off. The kids didn't bat an eye (didn't seem out of place to them).

I'll bet you that never happens in the UK wink

Probably not; I never found armed policemen approachable in any way!

I've shot the Glock 17 several times, along with the 17L, and always found it a little too big for my hands (hoping the replaceable backstraps help there, and the smaller 19 as well, obviously). I'm amused to find the FN and the Glock 17 are both lighter than the .22 Walther.

Dry weight it's close. The walther has a LOT of metal (especially with the compensator - of course with the compensator it's like shooting a low power air gun) Put a full mag in the 17 and I would say it's a tad heavier than the P22 and close with the P22 with compensator.

The FN, again, gains some weight with the full mag but is nice and light without it.

Honestly, I've never handled either of them at the same time. Not much for dual wielding.
