Has anyone explored the Norfolk windpumps at all? on the Norfolk broads there are literally hundreds of empty abandoned windpumps windmills that pumped the water out of the dukes into the river when the tide rose too far. Most have living accomodation attached and were a very lonely life with many having the only access by water. most are either untouched from the early 1800's or owned and turned into little houses no bigger than a studio.
Not that I know of from the top of my headGot any pictures/links for info mate please?
bit of info on them.

There were even a few Steam pumps which were even more sparse.
dotted all over the norfolk broads
(sorry for the very long delay in replying)

Next restoration project right there!;)Abondoned pier up on the Kintyre Peninsula, West Scotland.
Remains of a bridge over what was a railway on the A701 in the Scottish borders.
This is Neidpath tunnel in Peebles, it's about 1/3 mile long I think. It's pretty straight but has a slight bend at one end so you cant see all the way through it.
There is a nice skew arch bridge at one end of the tunnel.

That farmhouse is unbelievable! How is it all still so untouched? I can't help but think that some things in there must be worth a bit, but also I can't help but wonder about the umbrella and hat hanging up. I wonder if who put them there last knew how long it would be before they moved again.
And sadly, half the exploring community think the same and see it as ok to lift the stuff from these plces, then sell it on.Perhaps he's not giving out the location, because locals would confirm it was lived in up until the late 90's/early 2000's, by some old recluse who didn't decorate too often.
Call me a cynic..

I give you the abandoned steam crane and railway, overlooked by the Cylon raider inspired Nazi bunker.
Guess where? Alderney, I've walked the line to a friends house at Longis from Braye several times.
Spot on. We called in to Alderney a couple of times when we were sailing around France and the CIs this summer.Guess where? Alderney, I've walked the line to a friends house at Longis from Braye several times.
I'm amazed just how much Nazi stuff is still around Alderney, and in some ways surprised that more of an effort wasn't made to clear it after most of the inhabitants returned after the war.
Also quite gutted to have missed the "bunker party" rave on the last night of our holiday, but with a midnight start, and us having to catch the tide at 0700 the next morning for the long sail home, it probably wouldn't have been a good combination!

To me that cottage looks a little contrived. I think half of those items have been placed there for dramatic effect. A calendar from 1956. Alongside a few newspapers from 1919. And a letter postmarked 1968. I don't see why they would have paperwork 49 years apart on the table... The Painting looks like it has just been put there too..

You can tell he's moving stuff around just from looking at the pictures of the organ. The red book of hymns moving around for example.Perhaps he's not giving out the location, because locals would confirm it was lived in up until the late 90's/early 2000's, by some old recluse who didn't decorate too often.

haha Nah JollyClub I agree totally, I should add none of the items were placed there by me, I'm not into that sort of thing but clearly some are.
Sometimes explorers will root around the house for items that are in drawers/cupboards and lay them out so they may not be left there since the place was abandoned but they may be from the house itself, the simple answer is I don't know unfortunately
I haven't been asked where it is so I haven't said, I'm not hiding the location if that was indeed aimed at me
psgcarey are you talking about my pics of the farmhouse? there isn't an organ in there and I don't move stuff around
