McGonagle is nothing more than a bloody fraudster! A close spooner sent his prized collection away not more than 6 months ago for a 'like new' restoration and he's still waiting for completion of the first spoon, there's 2346 in his collection ffs!

He promised he could take on a collection of this magnitude and has delivered nothing but hollow excuses and idle chat in return for a â?¬3000 deposit!

Scum. Subhuman scum.

bit harsh given that the man is away with his 1944 comrades at the D-Day celebrations at the moment

their are only a few of them left from the Wehrmacht Schwere Tee Abteilung who so bravely kept the German bunkers supplied with hot tea and Black Forest Gateaux

Am a bit worried now.

Following my recent post here on PH I am getting endless emails via my profile from people offering to buy my size 3 Schmitt & Schicklegrüber. I'm ignoring them, of course, because I've no intention of selling but have had everything from "WHATS UR BEST PRICE M8?" to "GOT AN '87 TWIRLMASTER XL IF U WANT PX LOL" and the frankly disturbing "Can you please send me some high-resolution photographs, landscape and then portrait orientation (in that order) of your shaft x"

What to do?
I asked you for some high-resolution photographs, landscape and then portrait orientation (in that order) of your shaft. So, send me some bloody high-resolution photographs, landscape and then portrait orientation (in that order) of your shaft, for crying out loud!

Frankly speaking, if you're not prepared to show a potential buyer your shaft, you can't really expect them to part with the sort of money you're expecting. Seems reasonable to me, and you know that Blib has been a reliable buyer in the past. I think you're going to have to suck it up if you want his patronage, personally.

As for the others, a polite "I'm sorry, it's not for sale anymore" would be my stance.

So after my post the other day I've decided to go against the grain and order a fraudenbacher kevlar 9000, complete with kevlar shaft, and titanium dish attachment. I have heard that the lightweight takes away some of the feel within the stir, but aesthetically it is superb.

And their recommendation that stirring only begins when the tea drops below 90decC makes them really only a summer spoon in my view.

Which given the season we are currently in is exactly why I made the purchase, come winter it'll be placed in the draw and used on the odd nice day if we have any...

And the torsional rigidity is perfectly acceptable for a mere summer use only spoon. It's not taking the same.stresses as a much used winter/daily use spoon. Fortunately I have a few cheap Mexican made fandango spoons for such menial duties.

I dare say that it was the lead in his Fandango that convinced DanielSan to order a fraudenbacher kevlar 9000 in the first place.

I herd Spoonman by Soundgarden on the wireless this afternoon and wondered if there were any other songs about spoons or famous spooners. IIRC Steve Wright had Mr Spoons in the early 1990's

The original song called spoon by krautrock band CAN. Inspiration for the band spoon and the theme tune to the cult German series 'Das Messer'. Remixed by sonic youth.

CAN were leading lights in the Düsseldorf spoon scene, clearly influenced the stirring of Kraftwerk of course

Slightly OT, but still media related, don't forget that the 1980s children's TV show Button Moon was an early attempt to indoctrinate youngsters to the joys of spooning.

Let's not forget that it was lobbying by well connected forkists that got it taken off the air because of the alleged so-called hidden recordings of Mr Spoon's extreme views (an obvious setup in my opinion).

Which leads nicely into the Russian band Messer Chups with their surf beat cover of Das Model by kraftwerk. Originally called Messer fur Frau Muller, the Russians have always been cagey about their German choice of name and the infamous frau muller. It's obvious to anyone though that its an homage to Franz Muller who defected to Germany after the st Petersburg shambles and subsequent harassment by the KGB. It's said his collection of original karlovs was never recovered and many a private spoon investigator have been silenced after their visits to Russia.

cor, that's a story I haven't heard in a while

I heard rumours for years about a big budget Hollywood movie being made about it, various names being bandied about like Laurence Olivier, Marlon Brando, William Shatner, Arthur Mullard

Don't forget that Mexican fandangos were originally designed for hot chocolate; not sure the finish would stand the higher temperatures required of a tea stirrer.

I heard that everyone involved in that production were fully accredited, 18o+spm spoonists.

The tea breaks would have been a sight to behold.

Not many people know it but Arthur Mullard was a keen spoonist. He had a fine collection of Austrian per-war Klangenfurt gilt stirrers.
