More frivolous purchases, stuff you don't need..

Just bagged a 16 year old stereo amp (pioneer A407R) and a 30 year old set of speakers (B&W DM-100) on the local ebay equiv for a total of €60, will be picking them up tomorrow
I look forward to hearing what kind of sound a bargain basement hifi setup like this produces. My only fear is that i will want to get into quality DAC stuff, considering im not sure if the headphone output on my TV is any good, and ive been using optical SP-DIF for ages

That reminds me that I've got a Pioneer A-203 amp and a pair of Mission 731 bi-wirable bookshelf speakers just sitting in a cupboard. I should probably sell them. Likewise a B&O Beomaster 7000 system with speakers.

Ooo that's identical to ours. The previous owners of the house seemed to either bodge something or go all out, and seeing that the rest of the bathroom is high end brands I'm guessing this was an all out moment. Should probably clean it...It does look like new after 5 years if that makes you feel any better...

To be honest, that is not bad for £129, if I had a use for it I would get one.noell35 said:
Love mine. I got it from China, not much cheaper.
After a pretty stty experience with one of the Chinese sellers, I'm less inclined to buy stuff of reasonably significant value from them.I suspect by the time the free postage is topped up to something other than "vaguely the same postcode Yodel special" and insurance is paid, there really won't be a lot in it.
Good to hear a positive review!
Bought this prior to going camping in the lakes last Thurs/Friday;

Using small, dead twigs that I found under a tree it's heat output was impressive. but the rate at which it consumed them made it a little difficult to manage. The other problems are that your clothes will stink of smoke and the pot I had on it ended up black. I can't speak for it's charging capability as I haven't used it to charge anything for long enough to run down it's battery / establish whether it's self sustaining.

I'd say so. 85 quid for something to hold your soap? Some high level frivolity there.
It's even worse when you can get the same sort of solid brass one for £40 less at M&Shttp://www.marksandspencer.com/pimlico-2-tier-corn...
I put one in last week and it's very nicely made.
