Not allowed to format a letter in that manner.

On a related note, most of the work at our place has been sent to India (because it's not like we have anyone in need of employment here). The standard of correspondence is nothing less than shocking. I don't think I've read a single letter they've written that doesn't contain a grammatical error.

Good grammar is a rarity nowadays. Some take pride in attempting to write well, others don't appear to care less. The point a lot of people miss is that

it can be seen as quite rude and vulgar to address someone with poor English.I'm afraid good grammar is becoming a lost art, although some sections of PH are refreshingly well written. smile

I hate people who drive cars on the public road withy no insurance. It cost us 's to insure our cars, and those who dont bother either get away with it of recieve stupid, paltry fines of only a few hundred pounds if they do actually get caught. I have no sympathy for them, and if caught on the public road should recieve fines in excess of 1,000 miniumum or have their car crushed. End of.

Is the following correct, if writing to a third party:

Thank you for your letter. I'm sorry you are unhappy with the way your brother, Mr John Smith's, complaint has been handled.
"Dear ....,

Thank you for your letter. I am sorry to hear that you are dissatisified with the manner in which the complaint made by Mr. John Smith, your brother, has been dealt."

Really? This makes you look far more foolish than the poster you've quoted.
Ah. So you change my post then tell me that I look foolish because of the change that you just made?
