Indeed, the Soviets imposed draconian spoon production targets on the Stakhanovite cutlery factories north of the Urals.

Funny that you should mention the Stakhanovite factories as I've just been sent a mould from a collector in Perm whose father was a flange Commissar in the No:5 Glorious Revolutionary Peoples' Spoon Collective.

This is the piece.

Ten stirring points for the first person to name the model.

Looks a bit like a "little Peter".

ETA the pre-'62 model, before they added the supplementary cavitation fins.

Absolutely correct! It is indeed a "Little Peter" female mould. An extra point is anyone can explain why this style was named thus?

Was it not a commemorative piece in tribute to Peter the Great?

I know it's a dessert spoon, but I may have a picture of the venerable NAAFI '42 implement wielded by Morgan back in 1945.

Therefore, I am loathe to present it without approval - I await permission....

Will there be a dessert spoon thread?

I always understood that the NAAFI '42 was officially a desert spoon, with re-inforced webbing to cope with the stresses of high temperatures and camels' milk.

I wouldn't venture there, bunch of weirdos.

One of them does yogurt Instagrams. What you can do with a Kiwi fruit also boggles the mind. nono

Probably somewhat late in the day to be worrying over bowl volumes.

Given my preceding narrative, I defy any true spoonist to witness the tortured flange of my old chum Morgan's NAAFI '42 and not be moved.

However, I will retire to my bed and await the nocturnal deliberations of the cognoscenti before I would presume to post a photo.

I was hoping that our diplomatic silence over the matter would convey the general feeling on the subject of the implement that you describe.

However, this is a free country, thanks to the sacrifices made by the likes of Morgan. So, I say 'post and be damned'.

C.A.D. How apt.

Now, I may be wrong, but think I found a '33 Smithson "old dependable" at Warwick services today. Not that remarkable, except for the location. I've never seen one beyond a 50 mile radius of the foundry before.

Is there a dress code for tastings, and is the reserved white-glove rarity pavilion still a hefty premium?
