I had an argument on Friday night with a 29 year old Primary School teacher who teaches a Primary 5 class.
Her - "You only use an apostrophe before a word ends if your shortening the word"
Me (who is far from perfect with these things, and really struggles to spell) - "WTF!! What about belonging to, as in, Robert's shoes?"
Her (looking at me as if I was as thick as) - "duurr, then it goes after the S"
Her Mother, (my mother in law) then chips in and agrees with her, some arguing goes on, a quick Google on the phone and she's astounded.
