Selfie
Symptom of a narcissistic society. Hence recent rash of cosmetics/shampoo adverts claiming you will always be 'selfie ready' - because people now seem to feel the need to take a picture of themselves for no reason other than to put it on social media to garner some fleeting praise from acquaintances. So my thing that is now a thing - 'a new, vapid streak in society that values physical appearance above all else* (in both men and women, but especially women) - thus leading on to the gradual erosion of people's self esteem, hence the need to always look their best and take random pictures to garner the approval of your peers to sure up your crumbling self worth - entirely due to society and its preposterous vanity.
- because all of the amazing things you can do with your mind and your talents (both worked for and god given) are utterly fking worthless because you don't have abs or aren't a size 6/8.
(I know this has always been there, but due to the rise of social media is now more prominent than ever)

Obviously, I post on here.So my thing that is now a thing - 'a new, vapid streak in society that values physical appearance above all else (in both men and women, but especially women) - thus leading on to the gradual erosion of people's self esteem, hence the need to always look their best and take random pictures to garner the approval of your peers to sure up your crumbling self worth - entirely due to society and its preposterous vanity.

However, I think some forms of social media are absolutely tragic. As you say, more worrying is the sheep-like mentality of certain individuals who adopt this as their 'life'.
I still get queried as to why I'm not on social media when I tell people they won't find me on faecesbook.

I'm getting ahead of the trend and nominate "meninism" before it actually, sadly, becomes a thing.
Can we try and make meninism a thing? The PH squad (or is it crew) could just use it on Twitter and Facebook at every opportunity (whether relevant or not) and see how long it takes to become common usage.Mr Snrub said:
Unboxing videos on YouTube. I don't get it.
I don't, except on one occasion when the description of something I was buying was pretty limited and the unboxing video showed all of the items in the box. I thought the unboxing video would then lead to a demo and review of the item, but no, it just shows what was in the box. My nephew loves watching unboxing videos of Nerf guns and various toys, he watches loads. I think I'll get him away from the computer.Lifegoals - See this everywhere now, usually spouted by vapid beings whose "lifegoal" is to drop a dress size or two. Really, that's all you endeavour for in life? Which leads me nicely onto
Women with abs - And I'm not talking about a nice trim stomach, I'm talking proper 6 packs. From the pictures plastered over social media, magazines etc this is now the in "thing" and another of those oh so important "lifegoals". Personally I find women with muscles a bit of a turn off but that's probably because I'm not hip enough.
