Right, thanks for your post peeps. We know her mum is defo old english and her parents owners swear blind her dad is too however we always thought he was a bit too stocky, we say she's old english because thats what we were told she is but her brothers and sisters are alot shorter and stockier.
The dog she attacked ran a long way when off of the lead the night before at the same location, she chased Baylea about a bit, Baylea submitted. We got Baylea on the lead and she then had a bit of a snap and growl at the other dog (who is called Lexi by the way), we chatted to the owner and off we went. The other dog looks a bit staffy although I am sure she has pit in her (pink mouth and nose).
Baylea is quite well trained. When she was younger we had a trainer come round who is part of the Jan Fennel group, it was very expensive and we didn't see any results. Since then she has had 1 to 1 training which included socialising with other dogs and she is a 100% better. She heals off of the lead, she returns on command and does everything you would expect a well behaved dog to do.
She is registerd although not being a pedigree its not with the kennel club. I will dig the cert out and have a look.
Baylea is much better behaved with the mrs than me so I'm not convinced she would have done this if it had been the mrs taking her out.
We are going to get her a muzzle tomorrow and shes not been off the lead since. We consider ourselves responsible dog owners although she is our 1st dog and we're obvously still learning.
Ps the other dog didn't look injured and we had Baylea spayed at 6 months, thanks again.
You want to go to group training not someone to your house for continued socialising but they must be a good controlled group ask your vet and remember don't get a nylon black muzzle (they're horrible)The dog she attacked ran a long way when off of the lead the night before at the same location, she chased Baylea about a bit, Baylea submitted. Bear in mind that as your dog was off lead you are in breach of the Dangerous Dogs Act.
J&J, can you give more detail behind that please?DDA requires a dog to be out of control. However, when a dog is on lead it is not deemed under the DDA as out of control. Therefore the off lead dog which attacks is out of control for the purposes of the DDA and it is not limited to humans. A dog can be deemed dangerous for biting another dog.
