Personnal judgement and an ear for the obvious telltale signs.
A good liar will use half truths within the lie to make the tale sound plausable. You got to spot which half is bullst.

Interesting conundrum for the OP. Are we all lying or telling the truth?

OP You decide.

General rule I use, look them straight in the eye(s)..

If they look up or to their right tends to mean they don't know, are unsure or are having to think about the answer.
If they look down or to their left it tends to indicate it's a lie / they know it not to be entirely true
Some people will look in your eyes and lie but there tends to be a strain - they tend to stare or slightly bunch their eyes up - very slightly.

If they manage to look in your eyes and maintain a relaxed gaze there's a reasonable chance they think they are telling the truth.

Hands are another give away relaxed hands - truth, clenching hands / fingers together tends to indicate uncomfortableness / lies.

Stay relaxed yourself, stay still, don't fidget and look into their eyes (don't stare), watch their body language with your peripheral vision.

Sadly not in my experience.
Or mine.

How are they?
Not as big as yours (so I'm told)
Well, you know this thread is about liars, ... wink
Whoa there. Lets just back that conversation up a little. Herbie, you were telling us about how you were checking your tits. Let's not miss any details now - PH details matter.

I don't bleed for days, I paid to have it all removed tongue out

Mentalist is a possibility and 'the normal one' is a 100% no biggrin

The difficulty for me is when they really believe the lies they are telling, then I really can't tell.

99% of the time I find that the lies people tell don't really matter, if they want to live in some fantasy world then so be it.

I've only twice been subjected to a lie that massively affected my life.

If someone says the phrases

"In all honesty"
"to tell you the truth"
"I've got to be honest with you"

Then whatever follows is going to be lies.........

And some people just talk s***e all the time, it just takes time to work if if they are one of those people or not....
