I'm not too worried - this is someone I have known for a very long time (longer than X) and for whom I have a lot of time. I've not seen her for more than ten years though.
Fantastic news mate. Wish you all the best. Hopefully she'll be able to cheer you up*

bag up

and enjoy the moments, all of them

I've had nothing better to add since your first post, so I didn't but, like all here I'm rooting for you

You have had enough crap to deal with so far, hope you get the better deal this time so enjoy the new journey

(maybe in your new TVR, Fezza or whatever) smile

Make sure "a lot of time" is > 2 minutes wink

Time for a couple of years of fun before you think about anything serious...as others have said though, bag it!

Sounds better ABD.
How are you feeling overall? Drained? Happier? Optimistic?
Or perpetually sad?

All sounds a little Jimmy to me.

Was thinking that would be about 5 years since I was last and 10 before I was next...

Apart from perpetually sad, all of the above really. I'm glad it's over and things are getting better. I do have reason to be optimistic because I'm getting on with my life and I'm definitely happier without the cloud hanging over me.

I do get a bit sad sometimes, particularly when I'm not going to see the children for a while but I'll get used to that and it makes the time I do have with them better and more valuable.

The "date" isn't until next weekend - I'll just take it as it comes, a chance to have a little fun for once. I do feel like I deserve that.

And don't even think about feeling quilty or like you're cheating - she did this to you and now you have a free pass to get on with life and do what is good for you, whether that's a drink with an old ladyfriend or anything else smile

It's very good to read that you are going out and doing what you need to do to re-engage with life. It's very easy to start down the road of becoming a recluse, or to get fixed in your mind that the 'right person will come along' some time in the future.

Do continue to take opportunities as they come. Keep engaged with life and the closer contact with the opposite sex in more intimate ways (in the broadest sense that this means).

It's perfectly normal to feel the highs and lows and they do come and go in 'waves' of emotions that often do span moments of time, or sometimes span days. Dips and troughs... there will be many. It's often the case that it takes a good few weeks for the mind to settle and there may well be a harder point of realisation that 'this is real' and that's the point where the mind really starts to move on.

You may well also be surprised just how quickly your mind will change from thinking about 'our life' and 'our home' to 'my home'. The interesting one is when you go away somewhere for a few days and then back in the front door again. The mind is a clever thing indeed and soon edits out the worst bits... kinda puts a soft focus filter on the grim bits and lets you move on. I hope you enjoy your evening of company smile

It's tonight smile

I'm looking forward to it but I'm a bit nervous to be honest. I think this will be my first "date" since about 1990. Are icewash jeans still acceptable? biggrin
