in the Loake, Tan and they come up big so 8.5

I haven't tried on the Ted baker, I seem to recall these were £120, for that price I might as well pay the extra £35 and get the Loake's - these appear to be so popular that they are never in the sale.

I have a pair of old RM williams ( got them in 1992) I cannot believe that the same pair are currently retailing at £300!
Fearnley is not that big, I wear an 8.5 in all the G fittings like Bedale and Edward, but a 9 in the Fearnley.

I think I have a pair of 9's in stock, £120+5 delivery, if any good?

However, if you definitely know you need an 8.5 I will have to check. And I think the new prices kick in this week, so will have to double check cost prices.
I buy halves in the G fits, but the narrower stuff I tend to just buy whole sizes.

Drop me a PM if you're interested or when you're ready. beer

Nope. Expecting to hear around about now. To be honest I was expecting these shoes to be totally hand made and the cost saving was in the fact that one doesn't need to create a last by hand. (I am guessing that a first pair of, say, John Lobb bespoke shoes would be in the £3k range due to the need for a hand made last - I may be completely wrong there as I am new to the very expensive shoe world!) Here the measurement of the foot comes by way of a CGI sock and laser machine. The idea is that they then match each part of your foot to a 'stock last'. So the shoe isn't made to the actual shape of your foot but to the nearest shape they have as a stock measurement (I believe that there are about 55 standard lasts). I was told in the shop that the shoes were actually hand-made so must accept this as true but it would be wrong to expect them to be bespoke because they are not. I see them more as made-to-measure rather than bespoke and, if truth be told, they may be no more comfortable than any pair of Loakes or Church's. I have many pairs of full leather shoes bought from Samuel Windsor on line for about £30 a pair. Perfectly comfortable and cheaper to throw away and buy new than re-sole and heel! This purchase is a bit of an experiment so I shall let you know what my thoughts are.

Cheers fella!

If you wear them, I presume their value will be reduced? If so, by how much?

Here are the details- http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet...

The ones which arrived didn't have that funky inside, but I can get over that.

I'm surprised to see so many shoes which are, to my mind, laced up incorrectly.

In my world only children do the criss-cross lacing, grown ups do the parallel type.

Maybe I'm overthinking this one but it jars to see laces done wrong.

Thanks, I may take you up on that offer, once I have recovered from the xmas expense! I will try the 8.5 and 9 on again - My left foot is a lot bigger and fits a 9 perfectly, but the right is more an 8.5.

I guess as they are handmade they could maybe vary between batches.

I want a pair of Loakes or similar, in tan and not a brogue.

50% off you say? Oh the temptation is strong here..

I also quite like the look of these : http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet... but it doesn't mention a Goodyear sole .. which I gather is more practical for frequent use, should I be worried?

It states that the sole is durable, so one would hope they would last daily use. Mine will be in use almost daily so they better bloody last!

They look good in the darker colour. I might have been tempted by those if they were available when I ordered mine.

if you are looking for durability and everyday practicality, get a rubber soled shoe.
