Bit late for that...
sorry, that will teach me to read more than one post back smile

what I would recommend is a thin stick on rubber top piece for the sole, much more practical in winter weather

I have a pair of Base shoes too, so during the winter I would probably wear them (or those boots, if I feel like coming to work casual). I work in an office and park right outside so really don't do much walking anyway.

Guessing here that the stain is around the bottom of the upper, like a tide mark?
On one it is, on the other it isn't. The marks appeared at different times. The leather still feels perfect, but I can't remove the marks!
Salt is my guess, I've trashed two pairs of leather soled shoes this way. Wear them on paths that have been salted and an indelible tidemark ensues.
That was my thought, but one was in June and the other was July. Both wet days, but no salt as far as I know. Mud was involved with one, so wet mud letting salt out would make sense, but the other was just a wet day.

Undecided. Bought some cheap boots a few months ago, but not so happy with them now.

While I'm not normally a massive fan of Loake, I quite like these:

They look nice but they are going to be a pain to put on and take off I reckon.

Worth looking at the Russell and Bromley website, they have some similar as I recall. I have a pair of these from R&B which are easy to put on and take off, same sole unit as the ones above I think. There is a brogue boot similar in design as well:

Don't knock him for getting a lot of "pleasure" from his trainer collection. He then uses the used tissues to stuff the shoes.

Quite like both of those, especially the R&Bs.

I've been considering expanding my shoe wardrobe to have something between my Converse and the Loake brogues for smart casual use.

Anyone got any experience of chukka boots? Seem quite popular.

Putting shoes and boots on has never been an issue for me wink

Anyhow, Lordgrover, The factory outlet at Olney in Bucks (I've referenced it before) had the Loake bedale boot in at Christmas. I bought my second pair, size 13 but they had plenty of other sizes. A lovely boot, lighter colour, almost orangey brown and they look very good with jeans or a navy suit. Although they are seconds you wouldn't know it and at £79.99 (normally £250) a bargain if you can get there.

You have stumps instead of feet?

Those boots LordGrover posted up will need a lot of lacing and unlacing to put on and off.

I already have some chukka boots and derbys similar-ish in colour and style to the R&B boot.

I also have a pair of Cheaney chestnut brogues that look very much like that bedale boot.

Good point. I like 'em but doubt whether I could be faffed to lace and tie them twice a day.
Back to the drawing board. hehe

Rare items are worth what somebody is willing to pay. I accept 500 is not exactly rare however, it is still a fairly limited release for a big brand like Adidas.
