Rick Parfitt has gone already.
I'll see my 2016 Elton John and raise Ricky Tomlinson.
With a side bet on Ab Fab of Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders. Or is that a reverse forecast?
Indeed, but I did suggest he was a potential (sadly) on 8th December.I'll see my 2016 Elton John and raise Ricky Tomlinson.

Also, in the table, George Michael has left us

Every year this thread kicks off - and I used to enjoy it.
This year I find it quite unsavoury.
Not really sure what purpose it serves really. ( I'm getting old I guess )
A lot of the personalities I grew up with are now gone. More will be gone the next year - and the next.
I guess I'm viewing it through a lens of a crowd of unknowns betting on which one of your family members will die first.
"I'll bet on the disabled kid", "The wife is getting on in years and looking a bit peaky"
etc etc
I know - Rant 1/10 - but this year - this thread is beginning to bother me.
The joys of having less days ahead of you than you have spend.
I've said this a few times - I have no trouble with noting the passing of somebody famous or important. This year I find it quite unsavoury.

I'm not so keen on the prediction side of things.
And I really hate those who express a wish for a certain individuals to die.
On that note, I agree with previous posters that Gazza is perhaps not going to last much longer.

I'm with whoever predicted Paul Gascoigne, looks like he never learns...
I think Paul Gascoigne is going to be one of those people who really should have gone ages ago (due to their lifestyle, not because I want him to) but will still be around, getting up to the same old crap, still drinking heavily, still pictured in the tabloids, still making a fool of himself, etc, for many years to come.S10GTA said:
It seems my guesses have already been taken. I'll go a bit off piste with Pete Docherty.
Pete Docherty; still an ugly greasy, unkempt fker, however he has pretty much sorted himself out, I believe; looked pretty good at reading Festival a couple of years ago; came close though a few years back.Edited by HTP99 on Thursday 29th December 08:28

Wanting people to die because you don't like their music, their films, their style of presenting or whatever it is they do for work is in pretty poor taste but I don't think these threads are a bad thing. A lot of the time when someone iconic finishes their chips it does cause some interesting anecdotes to bubble to the surface, which are usually a pretty good read. There is a fine line between taste and distaste, though.

I agree. Nothing wrong with obit threads at all. After all, obituaries have been part and parcel of "old style" media for generations. It's the "wishing someone dead" stuff that I don't like - even if I'm not a fan of the person who is being wished dead myself. On that note, I agree with previous posters that Gazza is perhaps not going to last much longer.

He was on This Week a short while ago and appeared to be intoxicated, so unless 'sorted out' means self-medicating from a reliable dealer he's not on the wagon.Edited by hidetheelephants on Thursday 29th December 16:12
