Batley is ok, Dewsbury is probably worse than Bradford.
I lived in Beeston for a while (in the rough part), and it was 50x better than Dewsbury in my experience.

Oi! Give me fair warning when the bomb's coming so I can skidaddle or I'll set ol' man Webbo on ya.I lived in Beeston for a while (in the rough part), and it was 50x better than Dewsbury in my experience.

I drive into Bradford regularly and as soon as I pass East Bierley (lovely little village) the spider senses start tingling watching for crash for cash wannabes etc. I wouldn't venture there if I didn't have to.

The racism is strong in this thread.
If you use the Wail definition, yes.If you use commonsense, no.
This thread really does have some clearly racist people on it. Not everyone, but there certainly are some. It really doesn't bother me anymore unless people are actually racist toward me... but then they will probably say the same thing in their defense.
I do find it disgusting, however, that people get branded a racist for sticking up for their own country.
A sensible employer would simply state that any time taken off for religious reasons should be made back up - unless everyone is given the day off like Christmas for example.
That's an issue the employer should have dealt with - go and take it up with them, not the Jewish chap.
In order for those of minority to integrate, first those who have roots here should integrate first, and if you say that you don't know anyone who wants multiculturalism in this country, what chance have the minority got?
They feel alienated and so group together - much like the kids picked on at school.
Look at the video I linked above - do you think those Pakistanis will now try to integrate? They tried and were treated in a vile manner, they will be scared to try again and will now hate those around them.
I see the same comments again and again, I say the same things again and again, and I receive the same criticisms on PH again and again..
PC gone mad.. yeah sure, that video above was conveniently ignored as it doesn't fit with your well structured (!) arguments.
You make no comment there about disliking those who don't integrate, you clearly state you don't like multiculturalism. Just how many of those you would deem as 'proppa brits' have ancestral roots here in this country? Or doesn't it matter if their skin is white?
I am not offended by your post, I think you're an idiot, but your views aren't going to stop me loving the country I'm in.
I have a lot to offer this country, as have many of my friends and family - none of whom would be here if you had your way.
Just out of interest, how do you think the NHS would get on if you took any non-brits out? Good luck getting your cancer/heart attack/stroke treated quickly without the foreign doctors or those who's parents were from abroad originally!

This is not a minority view either. In fact I don't know anyone that likes our country becoming so 'multi cultural'.
(Hope none of my post offends you)
So you don't like the country being multi cultural - ie you don't like those who aren't british born whites. This is not a minority view either. In fact I don't know anyone that likes our country becoming so 'multi cultural'.

You think I'm an idiot for having some pride and passion in my country, or what it once was? Ok. I won't bite, so I won't go into detail.
If we took away foreign doctors etc from the NHS then it would be something this country would have to overcome.
I could argue with you all night, but I won't. I shouldn't have replied to you in the first place.

I did - I lost simply on the grounds they couldn't / to scared to do anything because it would be deemed racist ! In the end I won they found a way to get rid of him tbh I cant blame them. It took them years to do it = years I had to change my life for someone who was supposed to be British but not when it suited him. That's an issue the employer should have dealt with - go and take it up with them, not the Jewish chap.
Like I said I had no problem with the Jewish fella - I didn't take it up with him.

And to Jimbop, you don't feel it right to be courteous to those new to a country? Would you not make an effort to welcome a new colleague or stranger to a new group of friends?
Or would you take the view that you were there first so why should YOU have to integrate?
How very convenient you have decided not to respond to my posts anymore.
You really think this country has gone to ste because of us coloured people, don't you.
I rather pity you, but take comfort in knowing that I will have many great experiences that you're far too narrow minded to enjoy.

And if that new stranger who you'd welcomed then turned up the next week with 5 of his friends, then the following week with 10 of their friends, then the next week 20 of their friends...see where this is going?Funkycoldribena said:
I reckon you might eat those words when we end up like Sweden.
Like Sweden? I don't get it. Have you ever been to Sweden? I have. I've even stayed in Swedish social housing. What depresses me about the place is the lack of any real multiculturalism -- it's just as though people were plonked on these great big estates and left. Nothing wrong with the housing, though.

Immigration - I agree that there should be tighter regulation - but opinions voiced here haven't been balanced in this respect, they've suggested that certain demographics must be bad as a whole.
Let's use your example.... You have a small group of friends, you are introduced to me - a middle class 31 year old born here, schooled here, father owns a business and contributed to the country, I own a business and am studying dentistry and will provide a public service and pay even more tax. My children will be respectful, well spoken, well behaved, and will integrate.
You wouldn't want me in your group of friends because I'm brown. But you would accept a white chap who does cash in hand work on the side to make some extra cash and avoid paying tax. Who will set a bad example to his own kids and result in them also being a drain on the countries resources. *i am not suggesting whites are like this, I'm using this example to illustrate my point.
So my father came from Africa and mother from India. Their whole family is here. We have some in the family printing business, one is a civil engineer with a phd, one a chartered accountant, none have ever been in council housing or claimed a penny in benefits. My father taught me manners and common courtesy that very few in this country have, domestic or foreign.
You would have us all sent 'back' despite many of us having been born here.
And you feel your views aren't in the slightest racist?

You suggested that my example of wanting to be hospitable to a new person in a group of friends being similar to immigrants bringing more of them over.I am one of those, so I explained what I feel my family and I have to offer the country, despite you clearly not agreeing that we should be here. One came, others followed after all.
I am a child of immigrant parents, you seem to feel integration isn't a good thing. I explained why I think it is.
Having read some of your other posts, I can understand why you struggled to put that together.

I wonder what you'd be saying -- and birth is an accident -- had you been born black and muslim?
I take it you've never been to Sweden then, just chatting to your buddies from the Sverigedemokraterna?

My favourite definition on the net is:
the co-existence of diverse cultures, where culture includes racial, religious, or cultural groups and is manifested in customary behaviours, cultural assumptions and values, patterns of thinking, and communicative styles.
And add -- with equal rights for all.
BTW, I'm British, an atheist, and favour (but would not enforce, aside from common schools, hospitals, legal system, etc) mixing.
