I absolutely agree.

However if they don't want people joining their club, then they need to make it 'members only'.

Obviously on PH, we are completely open and we get our share of nobjockeys, however we don't turn around on them (as Mods) like 28dl did.

We just either have a friendly word in their ear - or if they are really stupid - leave them to you lot to devour

I'm not a ex-MOD facilities manager btw (my father was though and saw some 'interesting' things) - however having signed the Secrets Act a few times in my past - I know that they, er, don't take kindly to people waffling about secret stuff.

I've lurked on 28DL for some time, ever since a cross-post on another forum. I've watched from a distance as an armchair enthusiast as quite frankly I don't have the minerals to start tresspassing, abseil, climb or dig out earth (ok, the last one is laziness ).

Does that make me any less of an enthusiast? Hmm... interesting question. Some might argue that because I'm not prepared to do it myself, I'm not a true UE'er... then again, you may be surprised what a keyboard warrier such as myself can dig up.

I've never joined the forum, let alone posted and the way in which other people appear to have been treated has put me off trying to get involved - as well as other PHers, from what I've read on these boards.

There are plenty of intelligent people on this forum, who may be willing/able to contribute with answers, theories, suggestions, camera tips... or even help if you've got a car problem

Erm considering I am not into trespass etc... I wasnt likely to go for a shufty down into the basement. Afterall you guys are the experts and I will leave it you you, but do find it interesting all the same. If required I can send you guys the photos from my friend as soon as I get them so you can use them to tally things up if you wish.

PoD I will ask him if the images are allowed to be posted on a public board etc... Oh and that Carrington powerstation is just down the road from me (live in Barton)

Fair point, but if you've got someone who is prepared to tap away at a keyboard, or even dig about in a library, or even have contacts who may be able to provide answers (for example someone who worked in construction, on the railway etc etc), then surely that would bring more to the site, and enable those who are prepared to do the first hand stuff to bring back better reports...?

Yes if that was all it was then fantastic, people who wanna research for us but have no active interest is great from our point of view, but then theres the wiki article drawing unwanted attention and word of mouth drawing even more attention.

Yes I can. You're being protective of something which is not your property. Anybody can contribute to the page, but so far none of them have - that demonstrates to me that they have no interest in history whatsoever.

You guys are incredible, you post your info on a PUBLIC forum(with no GOOGLE robot protection) then complain that people are interested!

POD, in the first pic you can see the toilets, in the second picture road works cover that area so they must have been sealing them at that time.
