Er, thought we were still in a cold spell, -2 last night, but bring it on for the NW biggrin much after then the days get too long.
It's not been especially cold in the South East all winter. Just the one night when we hit the exceptional -9, a few -4s and that's it. I'd call it a cool spell.

The last 18 days (only records I could find quickly) on the south coast have averaged a max of just under 4.4C v long term average of 8C.

Damn, only other routes are Northampton/A605 or M25/A1M. From our house it's easier to go Aylesbury - Wing - Outskirts of MK then A421 to the BC, then left.

Then again, SWMBO is driving as her car needs a good run, so I can sit back and laugh...

For some reason they seem to think the solution to the traffic problems there is just to make it bigger rolleyes Luckily I don't have to go near it for my commute but I have seen traffic backing up to the Kimbolton junction recently

On topic - blue sky and sun here although cold frown

Blowing about quite a bit at Stockbury.

My car still isn't running right so it looks like I'll be using the Mustang for the next week or so.

I welcome any improvement to that junction. It also bemused me why for such a major road, the southbound A1 was restricted to 1 lane at the junction, with any traffic attempting to head off down the A421 suffering the same fate. Northbound was just as daft, with anyone attempting to leave the A1 to join the A421 queuing with all the A1 north traffic.

I'm disappointed that they didn't proceed with the A1 flyover idea, especially given that they're now planning to expand the A421 eastwards off the black cat to meet the A428.

Pales in comparison to the promised A421 dualling between M1 J13 and Kingston roundabouts which is a f**king disgrace. Lovely fast dual carriageway across most of Milton Keynes, until you get to the point where it's vital for traffic entering / leaving and it reduces to a single carriageway road past the golf course for everyone using the M1 or A421 eastbound. Massive traffic bottleneck as everyone tries to poorly merge together.

So what are they doing? They're dualling that road for ONE ADDITIONAL F**KING KM towards the M1, sticking a new roundabout at the end of it and then reducing the speed limits along the dual carriageway sections. Congestion problems now moved ONE KM down the road, lovely bit of forward thinking there.

Much of the snow has gone here, but it's left the place like a set from the film 'Avatar'

Probably will be better than us tomorrow - supposed to have hurricane force winds with lots of snow, so imagine there could be a whiteout. Also I guess there will be a massive avalanche risk during/ after. They're evacuating some of the islands, apparently some of the waves are going to be 25+m! eek

.. that could almost be somewhere on the equator, or even a shot from a Jurassic park film.

(Mind you, if it was a merging of both, there'd be nowt more fearsome than a hungry Scotsman emerging from between the trees)

Currently in the middle of a massive blizzard. House lights going on and off, house shaking, all sorts of crap flying around outside, lots of branches down. Just went a drive (well, if crawling along is driving) to the shops and half of the time you couldn't see more than the bonnet of the car. Tried taking a picture to share, but they're all just white so not much point!
