Surprisingly difficult to take this picture without burning the house down but should give you an idea.
That's cool, where'd you get it?It's a tough little thing though, I had it on my keyring for years thinking it would come apart but it's still rock solid. Needs filling up pretty often as I'm sure you can imagine.
Bank holiday, but my missus was at work. I converted one of her shelves of candles, potpuri, photos and other crap into my zippo manshelf. Still waiting on a Marlboro zippo, the 24 is a 2007 special edition Jeff Gordon zippo.
ETA: Two more showed up today, so updated picture!

Wow....that is epically cool. I'm so full of want!I'll post a picture of my Chrysler Zippo a bit later when I get home. I also had a Corvette one which I haven't seen for ages now. It's a shame....it was rare and I paid through the nose. It also had the perfect patina thanks to sitting in my pocket with coins
I'm not one for concourse pieces. It was a limited edition (40th anniversary) model, but I'd rather use it than see it sit in a collector's box.
Just found this, for fans of the TV show 'Sons of Guns' ;

That is actually legendary behaviour! I'm massively cheered by the fact that there are other people as obsessive about knowing 'why?' as I am in the world!
Just for clarity, München said 'nein' to allowing it in hand luggage and Nürnberg said 'nein' to allowing it in hold baggage without removing the wadding etc.
Hugely grateful to you and your chum as I'd love to know the exact rules on this as I hate how there seems to be no consistency here. If its a straight 'no' all along the line then fair enough; I'd leave it at home but it's a pest that some airports seem to randomly take umbrage to them.
I await his findings with interest and please send him an Internet beer from me. :cheers:
Not a problem! It seems that the overall authority has no problem with them but maybe individual airports/countries are using their discretion against Zippo lighters. The why part is the real kicker as the bloke who is doing the investigation bit has carried fuelled zippo's all over the world on airlines with no problems. May just be the Germans being over sensitive?Just for clarity, München said 'nein' to allowing it in hand luggage and Nürnberg said 'nein' to allowing it in hold baggage without removing the wadding etc.

Either way, we shall find out soon

Just remembered about this? Any word from your chum?
Sorry chap, I had forgotten and I suspect he had too. He has been recently promoted to a slightly different role so I imagine his time to "chase things up" has been reduced I shall see him tonight/tomorrow and get back to you once I have had a word
