Things that annoy you beyond reason...(Vol 4)

Cheltenham town centre and the complete lack of any meaningful signage to get you through the poxy place.
I think it's a new spec for town centres...Ashford (Kent) is the same. The next town to the West is Maidstone, and they used to be linked by the A20 (once the main route from London to Folkestone), but try finding a sign on the inner ring road indicating that.If you've somehow found your way into a town centre the planning bods want you trapped until you spend your way out.
Today I am mainly annoyed by all things Orgreave.
The cyclist who I have started seeing on a narrow lane on the way in to work, who:
(a) has never given way to me at a passing place, always me to him
(b) has never offered me any acknowledgement
Before PH's pet cyclists pile in, it's not related to his mode of transport, just that he's a rude t

Though he does have that slight "angry old hippy" look of someone that probably thinks he has more right to be on the road than I do.

Foglights.
This and 10 million times this. It's 17:30, it's dark, the traffic is heavy stop start, there is a hint of fog but visibility is >100m.

I don't even understand the kind of mentality that thinks "I'm in stationary/slow traffic, I can see the car behind me perfectly but there is a hint of fog, I'd best blind the car behind".
Although in one occasion I had such a f

Because a lot of people learn to drive parrot-fashion, without any comprehension as to the reasons. So to their tiny little minds, fog means putting their fog lights on. Because fog. No comprehension as to the reason for fog lights being so that cars behind can see you are there and are therefore only needed when you cannot see any cars behind you. Fastdruid said:

May you contract leprosy of the cock and end up face down over an electric barbed-wire fence while the at-large AIDS-ridden criminal "Big Barry the Dry Bummer" has his way with you before delivering you unconscious and bleeding to your mum's front door with a note around your neck saying "I asked for, and enjoyed it all".

Yep, that yanks my chain as well. As I live in Cambridge, it happens a lot - letting cyclists through, and then not a flicker of recognition.(a) has never given way to me at a passing place, always me to him
(b) has never offered me any acknowledgement

Mind you, more and more motorists seem to be getting just as rude.

That's not annoyance, that's jealousy. You really know so little about football that you think the correct word is footballist, and not footballer?

Cars/buses/trains being described as 'zero emission'.
No they f
king aren't - they just don't emit anything at the 'point of use' but the energy they use needs to be generated SOMEWHERE, and in the case of most countries that will be by coal or gas power stations.
Thanks to the inefficiency of then having to transmit the power across the country, via several step up/step down transformers, then either use it to charge batteries ( with about 95% of the energy subsequently being available for use ) or make hydrogen ( where at best a mere 60% of the input energy can then be used ) they can end up creating more emissions than an ic vehicle![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
And that is before you consider the environmental impact of mining the stuff used in their battery's construction![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
