Just left a job in food which was hell but I needed the dough(nut). Decided life wasn't worth being miserable. and my leaving has caused a great deal of problems to them. Interview tomorrow for something very different (welding/fabricating)

Loved my job delivering heavy plant.

We then got taken over by Wincanton telling us how wonderful they are and employ 16,000 folk.
I told them they wouldn't last long and that I would sooner work for a mob that employ 16 folk.
5 months in I left after Wincanton weren't up to the task of delivering and collecting plant.

I now work for a mob that employ 5 of us including the boss and as happy as a pig in 5hit.
Not bad for 59.

Wincanton broke contract after 10 months, brilliant.

Your job is very much like mine in terms of things shifting

If you bend over backwards you get no thanks

Then when something goes wrong due to ridiculous constraints the usual characters come out the woodwork to tell you how they would of been able to time travel or similar to have done it properly in the first place

OP sounds like they'd be in trouble without you so. Surely you are in a strong position to renegotiate your job description and reward package. I'd fly home if you cannot get an agreed sign off date! When they want you back make sure you aren't available!

People.

People are strange, they get aggressive when they are scared they get verbal diarroahea, they become mute, they dont listen to simple instructions (for example I always have to tell people to lie on their backs with their head on the pillow if I just told them to lie down 9times out of 10 they would lie on their belly with their feet on the pillow) they become paralysed and become completely incapable of doing the simplest task themselves.

Mind you on the rare occasions when someone actually appreciates what we do for them it is a great feeling
Is it just me or does this post seem more than a bit rapey? smile

I hope you do something in the NHS or emergency services, and not something that involves Rohypnol and gaffer tape!

P.S. I love my job (sorry! smile)
Not Rapey lol, I work on a private MRI scanner.
I do mostly enjoy my job but as usual with people who have to deal with the public on a regular basis sometimes they get on your tits lol

Must have something to do with your magnetic personality then.

Be wary of renegotiating. Is a bit more money, most of which is taxed one way or another, really going to make any difference?

I hated having a job that sent me all over, never getting to experience places or spend time with anyone you give a toss about. And that was before having kids and with an agreement that I wouldn't be away at weekends, ever. Keeping you out there is a lot cheaper if they're not having to fly you back on a Friday and out again on a Monday.

Thing is, on this trip, for the amount of work I could do I should have flown back last Sunday, as arranged, and come back out next Monday!

I moved heaven and earth to get into grave digging. Problem is, I found out I was allergic to soil and I couldn't stop coffin. The latter almost put me 6ft under!

I work in Telecomms/IT and am becoming increasingly fed up, reasons are:

1. General ineptness of carriers/line providers (Things like engineers not turning up, or turning up and installing the wrong device)
2. General ineptness of our sales team (They neglect to tell the customer key details and leave me to pick up the pieces on the day of install)
3. People who refuse to admit they are wrong (Customer forgets to tell us about his "other numbers" then shouts at me when they arent ported into the new system)
4. Being out on an install being rushed off your feet, then having the office call you asking for help on a fault.

I could add hundreds!

i work for a consultancy, and have done that type of work for about 15 years. Basically I get paid by the consultancy, and they get paid for me to work for clients 9am-5pm every day of the week. I basically have 2 jobs as the company i actually am employed by give me loads of additional st to do for them. The most annoying thing is they never tell you to work till midnight every night, they just expect you to get it all done, knowing fine well you can't do it during any working day. My current company even provide a helpful waiver form for the european working time regulations in my new starter pack when i first joined. Again, they don't tell you to sign it (they can't) but they don't tell you it's optional either. I get paid OK, but i do feel like jacking it all in on a pretty regular basis; the most recent being this afternoon.

Being made a pariah for an accident they admitted it was their negligence was to blame.

Being let go after a second operation to fix 5 years worth of said injury. I can accept that i'm now a damaged asset and hardly a money maker. Yet thanks for the human side, thanks for showing me that the workplace regardless of level is ready to throw you under the bus, ready to pay you back for any loyalty you might of had so happily with showing you the door.

Now looking at fusions or ankle replacement, I've probably found the best thing they ever did for me was making me jobless educated in a career i can't physically do anymore. At least now i don't have that nagging feeling it's all my fault.
