What do think about "texted"?
e.g. "I texted him yesterday"
I suspect it's ok but it sounds so st to me it drives me potty - Surely "I sent him a text yesterday" would be far more eloquent?
I don't so much mind 'texted' as a verb in modern usage, at least they are getting the past tense right. e.g. "I texted him yesterday"

Far less irritating than "he/she text me last night"
Shopping on Saturday in Sainsbury and overheard a woman asking a lad, who was busy filling the freezer cabinets, where she could find the Potato Rockets
Student aged employee responded by asking her if she actually meant Potato Croquettes - rather than answering the question she stormed off in a huff
