All of my work shoes have leather soles but am fed up of sliding on London pavements so just ordered a couple of pairs with Dainite soles.
I have taken to wearing a pair with Dainite soles to work and changing to leather soles when I get to work. Would prefer a pair of slippers but not in the dress code for men.

Just took delivery of these.

They look like they'd fit a kangaroo perfectly..
Most kangaroos couldn't afford the requisite thousand pounds that they cost however...
1000 quid!!!! I wouldn't have picked them up if I'd seen them in a skip!
They cost a grand?! Each to their own, as is the spirit of myself in this thread, but I'd take the 35 quid jobbies someone else posted earlier over these. A grand for a pair of shoes? Makes my Gucci loafers seem cheap!
I would probably prefer a couple of pairs of Gucci loafers to one pair of kangaroo boots to be honest. I tried on a crocodile pair a couple of weeks ago. Lovely. Though they were £1800 and I couldn't justify it.
Kangeroo boots? What the hell are you guys on about?

With regards to spending £1000 on a pair of shoes, surely the same argument could be made about cars. Why spend £40,000 on a new BMW when you coud get an old Fiesta for £500. Or watches-nothing wrong with a £50 Seiko, but sometimes you want a £4000 Rolex or Omega, etc.

As I CLEARLY stated, each to their own. I spend a fair bit on decent watches, so I can't question people on what they spend their money on. But a grand on a pair of boots seems excessive to me. But what the fk would I know about footwear, I usually just wear trainers and thought my Gucci loafers were the most expensive ice skates on the planet biggrin

They are the shape of kangaroos' feet. They probably look good on the wearer, but on the sofa they look like footwear for kangaroos.

A grand for shoes doesn't concern me. A grand (I think they are £1050) for those shoes I wouldn't pay. But I like that the owner likes them and was prepared to invest in good shoes.

I always thought the M&S marking was just for winter tyres, but I should now have plenty of plenty of grip on my feet for the winter

Luckily they're being delivered so the OH didn't see me bringing them home.

How do they fit and are they comfortable?

Obviously the cost is associated with the quality of craftsmanship, the time to produce and the fact they are made to order, but I am genuinely interested in what you get over a pair of very good (£200-300) off shelf shoes.

All G&G's lasts are the same shape other than the toe box so the only discrepancies in fit are going to be down to the handmade nature of the shoes/boots so once you have your size and width you should be good to go. G&G's shoes are on the snug side which is how I like them but clearly you could choose to have them narrow D or wider F on the RTW or MTO line (I am the normal E). They require a minimal amount of breaking in so you could be confident in wearing them all day for the first wear and being perfectly comfortable.

As will all things the cost vs. value is not often a linear calculation however, I find it easy to justify the extra cost when comparing how finely finished they are compared to other makes. G&G are very particular with the leather they use and I find their lasts to be particularly sleek and flattering to my feet (a paltry size 7). In short they are as close to flawless as you could expect this side of bespoke but I appreciate the styles and lasts are not to everybody's taste. They are in my opinion at the same level as Edward Green who cater for the more classic styles.

Another thing that may be slightly overlooked is the quality of their service. I find it particularly impressive that even before placing my order I was put through to Dean Girling to discuss my options first-hand. Imagine phoning up any other company and getting that service.

This is a good insight in to the company.

I know you probably won't even wear these, but I was wondering what these would go with.

I think this look might work;

And I note that James Bond was wearing Dainite soled shoes in SPECTRE. Good enough for James..good enough for me.

now all power to you if you can afford to drop that kind of money on a pair of shoes, but they don't look massively special to me. Maybe that's the attraction of course, and I am sure they are good quality... i am sure the picture doesn't do the value any justice.

Positively boring compared to some.

But comfy and hopefully providing some grip in the snow due later today.

Just tried a pair of these on but felt a bit like moon boots. I know loads of people swear by them though.

Opted for these instead...
