Anyway...

I'm at the studio now and have just booked my 70 year old mum in for her first tattoo hehe

She mentioned it a few weeks ago so I've arranged it and tagged her with the details on Facebook. She's hasn't commented as yet biggrin

But think how st it will look when she gets old wink
Bloody hell! I'd not thought of that. I'd better changer her mind before it's too late...
Jesting apart, how do tattoo artists get round the lack of elasticity in the skin that older people have?

I do find it strange how people just insult people's choice of tattoo. If I see a tattoo I don't like on this thread I just move on past and don't post anything. Why would you belittle someone on a forum? What do you gain from it?

I'm not sure tbh. I explained how old she was (she's a very young 70) and that she wanted something feminine and pretty, and where she wanted it. Pawel was happy to do it based on what I told him.

For info. she wants some kind of daisy chain thing on her wrist. I've tried to explain it will hurt so she knows what she's in for, but we'll have to see how it goes.

I don't understand the need either. Must make them feel good somehow... These days I completely ignore it. It's all rather pathetic, and just helps me work out which people to avoid.

I've got an idea for your next tattoo:-

If someone insulted you or took the piss out of something you'd done just to get a laugh for themselves at your expense you'd be pissed off and you'd say so if you felt strongly enough. On here all I can do is type how I feel about that kind of thing but face to face I'd be very 'vocal' about it as it's an unpleasant way to behave and I object to it very strongly. I came on the thread to talk about tattoos which is something I'm interested in. I really like mine and honestly don't mind (or indeed care) if someone else doesn't like it. I do feel annoyed if someone I don't know (the important part by the way) simply takes the piss for their own amusement. To expect someone not to react this is unrealistic. I was hoping to talk about tattoos, as I'm just starting out with them and I've found some people who want to talk. I've also found some fk heads who just want to take the piss and also some pricks like you who jump on the band wagon. It's a shame but fk it, I don't know any of you so meh.

Seems very far from 'meh' to you really though.

Why not just not give a st if someone who you don't know or otherwise takes the piss out of your tattoo? I have one and couldn't give a flying fk what anyone else thinks of it.

The fact the it is meh doesn't preclude me wanting to impress on them how I feel about it. It's incredibly rude...wouldn't hold back in real life. The fact that it is meh means I won't lose any sleep over it wink

Just wow.
You have anger issues if you would get that threatening over a bit of ribbing.
Jesus.
I think it is utter insanity to get a tattoo and post "look at me" pictures on Pistonheads of all places if it is going to make you that furious if there were any comments that weren't as delighted with you about it. Have you ever read any pistonheads ever?
What do you do if a mate takes the piss?
All that said, I apologise for upsetting you. It was not my intention and I expected you would see the funny side yourself. Suppose that's the problem with not knowing someone.

Fair enough, I just ignore any rude comments if they are made toward my tattoo, water off a Duck's back to me.

At least until I get home and am standing in front of a mirror, crying my eyes out, but nobody sees that.

You chosen to completely misunderstand what I was trying to get across. It's obviously your choice how you decide to behave. I'll leave it at that I think.

It’s just what people do on the internet, and actually in daily life outside the internet. Imagine being in a pub showing off a new tattoo to your mate when someone jokingly suggests it looks like a chicken with a dagger through it – do you get all upset and indignant, or do you simply laugh it off and say something witty back? It’s not really any different, and if you’re sensitive to comments it’s best not to post it in the first place (or show it off down the pub).

Very few things on this board are immune from piss-taking, it’s important to know that. And tattoos are not very popular here.

I've seen this popping up this week. Not really my thing usually, but looks bloody amazing.

Wonder if the artist enjoyed that day at work?

I bet close-up the detail and time-spent in the lower half of the tattoo is phenominal

Months. That is one of the harder styles to tattoo and that much solid black would need a couple of weeks between each session to heal properly.

Something doesn't look right about that. The skin on her botty has the colour and condition of than on a 90-year old cadaver.
