What Made You Happy Today?
Discussion
Probably shared by many, but the sun coming out for the whole day with clear blue skies made me very happy. The sun after a prolonged wet spell is always smile inducing.
Then we went to town and there’s a spot in the harbour where dolphins are often seen. No joy seeing them today, but it made my wife and I happy just whiling away a simple hour or two just enjoying the time.

Decluttering....
With two kids and two full time jobs, it seems that we never addressed the clutter and were drowning in "stuff".
So we made a conscious effort to be more ruthless about possessions, not holding out for a good price sale, to donate or freecycle as much as we can. The house looks much better (still a long way to go) and we are happier.

Spent an enjoyable afternoon cleaning the car - a ‘proper’ clean taking five hours, rather than the quick wash-down it normally gets during winter.
Double wash, proper dry, spray detailed and then a spray of ceramic to top up the two-year old ceramic coat (it’s fading fast now). Also spent an hour on the wheels and even had time to shine the tyres.
My back is complaining a bit and the top of my head feels a bit warm from five hours in weak sun, but I’ll still take that after months of utterly miserable weather.

Well done, hope you checked fluids and tyre pressures plus spare if it has one. Double wash, proper dry, spray detailed and then a spray of ceramic to top up the two-year old ceramic coat (it’s fading fast now). Also spent an hour on the wheels and even had time to shine the tyres.

I tried a new 10k run route today, across some N.York moors.
Spotted (or rather heard!) my first lapwings of the year which is always a treat along with what I am going to say were a pair of buzzards to play safe. I think were actually red kites as they were low level/tree tops and moving fast rather than soaring high in the sky. Either way an absolute treat.

A photo from my mum of her new fire pit all ablaze.
She’s nigh on 79 and recently had a full knee replacement. While she’s still struggling (not back to driving yet) it’s good to see she’s out under the West Wales stars sitting beside an open fire. Sadly I’m several hours away and can’t just nip round.
It made me happy because today I’ve just had the second member of my (tiny) team resign in as many months. I completely understand their motives and support them fully but they’ve been a really good hire for me (and will be for their new place), so I’m saddened to lose a talented colleague and a thoroughly decent person.

Oh and Kevin McCloud was filming near work when I turned up this morning. I’m too old to be a fanboy and don’t have heroes, but would have liked to thank him for helping to make design and modern architecture more comfortable in a country that only seems to look backwards for its housing.

Watching a bluetit busy flying back and forth with nesting material to a bird box I recently made and tucked up under the eaves by our patio doors so we can all watch them work and hatch a family from the comfort of the dinner table.
That’s great These clear plastic feeders that sucker to your window are really good too
